ExxonMobil and SABIC joined forces and expertise to create Gulf Coast Growth Ventures and their first project is a multi-billion dollar plastics manufacturing facility strategically located just outside of Corpus Christi in San Patricio County, Texas, for easy access to ports, railroads and pipelines.
The proposed facility will consist of a 1.8mtpa ethane cracker that will feed into a monoethylene glycol unit and two polyethylene units. SABIC expects to start initial engineering and construction during Q2 2018, followed by EPC to be completed during Q4 2012 and startup is expected during Q1 2022.
The project is part of ExxonMobil’s “Growing the Gulf initiative” and is expected to create more than 35,000 construction jobs and more than 12,000 full-time jobs.
