Mad Dog Phase 2 is an extension to the original Mad Dog project to increase production on the field by up to 140,000 bboe a day.
The Mad Dog Oil Field is an offshore field located in the Gulf of Mexico, consisting of blocks 825, 826 and 782. The field was discovered in 1998 and became operational in 2005.
Appraisal drilling in 2009 and 2011 has helped shape the current estimates that the entire Mad Dog area contains 4 billion barrels of oil equivalent (bboe).
Mad Dog Phase 2 is an extension to the original Mad Dog project to increase production on the field by up to 140,000 bboe a day with oil production estimated to begin in 2021.
A semi-submersible floating production platform with up to 14 production wells is planned for the southern portion of the Mad Dog field and west of the existing spar platform.
