With increased demand for high-performance, lightweight plastics, evaluation is currently underway on the expansion of the Baton Rouge polypropylene plant, to increase production capacity by up to 450,000 tons per year.
Detailed engineering and design work has already began on the potential project alongside comprehensive analysis on the local infrastructure, efficiency, scale and integration of the existing facilities. The facility start up could come as early as 2021.
Initial estimates project that more than 600 workers will be required during the peak construction period with more than 60 permanent jobs being created when production commences.
