We’re partnering with a major resources client to secure an experienced Principal Mechanical Engineer for a 12-month fixed-term contract  within their WA Asset Projects team.
This is a senior-level role offering exposure to a broad portfolio of sustaining and growth projects across iron ore operations.

The Opportunity
You will provide high-level mechanical engineering leadership across a diverse project pipeline (typically $50M–$250M in value), contributing to both ongoing operations (BAU) and new scope development.
You’ll play a key role in shaping engineering outcomes, setting technical standards, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with best practice design principles.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical leadership across mechanical and piping engineering scopes
  • Establish and govern design basis, engineering standards, and assurance frameworks
  • Support multiple concurrent projects through design, execution, and commissioning phases
  • Drive optimisation and continuous improvement across engineering solutions
  • Identify risks and ensure robust, risk-informed decision making
  • Engage and influence internal stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams
  • Provide input into early-stage project definition and engineering strategy
 
About You
  • 10+ years’ experience in mechanical engineering roles within asset or major projects
  • Strong background in materials handling systems
  • Experience across piping, pumping, and water systems
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Proven ability to lead technically, influence stakeholders, and drive engineering outcomes
  • Strong understanding of engineering governance, risk, and project delivery frameworks
