The Opportunity
We’re seeking an experienced Electrical & Instrumentation Commissioning Engineer to join a growing project team delivering a $25M  brownfield expansion project.
This role will see you play a key part in commissioning a filtration plant, a mirror-image duplication of an existing asset, including filter presses, pumps, hydraulic units, and conveyors.
You’ll initially be based at the office (2 days site / 3 days office) before transitioning to full-time site commissioning (DIDO, 8-hour days).
With strong leadership from the Project Manager and Commissioning Lead, this is a critical hire to coordinate multiple contractors and drive commissioning outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate electrical & instrumentation commissioning activities
  • Review and execute commissioning plans, procedures, and work packs
  • Carry out:
    • Electrical testing (IR, continuity, protection, energisation)
    • Loop checks, I/O testing, calibration & functional testing
  • Support SAT, system testing, and start-up readiness
  • Manage punch lists, defects, and close-out activities
  • Coordinate across 6–7 contractors with varying scopes
  • Interface with vendors (including FAT involvement), construction, and operations
  • Drive safe energisation and commissioning execution
  • Ensure accurate documentation, redlines, and handover packs
 
 
What You’ll Bring
  • Proven experience in E&I commissioning across mining, process, utilities, or heavy industry
  • Strong ability to coordinate multiple contractors and scopes
  • Solid understanding of:
    • Electrical systems (MCCs, motors, drives, UPS, switchboards)
    • Instrumentation & control systems (PLC/SCADA interfaces, field devices)
  • Experience with:
    • Loop checks, functional testing, energisation & start-up
    • Reading drawings (SLDs, schematics, P&IDs, I/O lists)
  • Strong safety focus and understanding of permit & isolation systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot and drive outcomes in a dynamic site environment
