Accounting Manager

Job Summary

The Accounting Manager is responsible for legal and regulatory compliance for all accounting and financial reporting including quarterly and annual audit procedures, overseeing cost and general accounting, and capital expense management. Other responsibilities include analysis, reconciliation of general ledger accounts for all entities and overseeing journal entries and internal reporting of financial statements to shareholders. The professional will also be responsible for assisting the Controller with external financial statement reporting, cost report preparation, ad-hoc financial analysis, budget preparation and implementation, financial statement audit preparation, and special projects as assigned.

Responsibilities
 
  • Managing and overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department. Partnering and coordinating with the FPA manager, treasury manager, logistics lead, and the AP team.
  • Manage complex and highly technical accounting projects and initiatives with other members of the accounting and finance team or with other departments.
  • Coordinate and complete quarterly and annual audits. Establishing and enforcing proper accounting processes, policies, and principles and responsible for managing relationships with financial auditors. Lead all required audits, cost reporting, and tax filings; audit, cost report, and tax return lists to be completed by established deadlines.
  • Provide leadership with communicating and enforcing all relevant company policies and procedures.
  • Be a finance business partner to department leaders and plant managers as necessary.
  • Monitor and manage the annual fiscal budget throughout the year.
  • Assign projects and direct staff to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Follow all relevant company policies and procedures.
  • Present a professional image at all times to clients and vendors and maintain a positive reputation of the company.
Requirements
  • CPA preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required.
  • Master’s Degree in Accounting preferred.
  • Minimum seven (7) years of experience working in an accounting field required.
  • Experience working within industrial, chemical, or refinery highly preferred. 
  • Experience with audited financial statements preferred.
