API Engineer – Freelance Contract – Central Paris, France

Initially until the 31st December 2024
Hybrid working, 3 days on site, 2 days remote
Must be able to speak fluent French and English

Essential experience: - Training as a computer engineer or equivalent and at least 5 years of experience in the design and management of APIs in a production environment. A perfect mastery of best practices around APIs (REST, GraphQL, gRPC, ASyncAPI), integration patterns, security and data.  Solid experience in Run. Hands-on experience with at least one of the market-recognized API Management platforms such as Azure API Management, AWS API Gateway, Apigee or MuleSoft.  Good knowledge of Cloud environments (Azure, AWS). Recognized expertise in backend development (Java, NodeJS, Python).  A good ability to detect, analyse and report risks related to the activity.

The API Engineer will integrate into the Tech Authority which brings together around twenty people (Cybersecurity, Architects, etc.). The service provider reports directly to the CTO (Chief Technical Officer). 
The team evolves in an agile context at all levels of the organization, in iterative and co-constructive mode, relying on collective intelligence. Within the Tech Authority, the NPI Engineer to participate in defining the technical governance of projects. NPI Engineer to support and guide for the Squads during the different phases of their projects.
The API Engineer will be responsible for: -
  • Support the squads in charge of developing APIs and platform interfaces.
  • Ensure monitoring of APIs and the proper application of commitments made.
  • Contribute to API governance and ensure its application within the Digital Factory.
  • Maintain and evolve API guidelines for design, development and deployment.
  • Lead or actively participate in the API design phases.
  • Collect, analyse and challenge business needs, providing advice and guidance on the choices to make.
  • Raise squad awareness of the added value of APIs through coaching sessions and training for Product Owners and developers.
  • Monitor trends, technological developments and innovations in the field of APIs.

Cross-functional contributions:
    • Participate in the design/maintenance of new tools/packages common to the organization.
    • Challenge the team’s vision.
    • Participate in CoPs (Communities of Practice).
