NES Fircroft has partnered with a global oil & gas exploration, development and production business, who are currently seeking an experienced Approvals Advisor. This role will be offered on a contract basis with the initial scope of 12 months. The position will be based in Brisbane, working Monday to Friday in Brisbane CBD. The offered day rate for the role will be between $800-850/day including super.

As an Approvals Advisor, you will play a crucial role in identifying, obtaining, and updating the environmental permits and approvals necessary to support various water and D&R-focused projects. Your expertise will ensure compliance with relevant regulations while driving efficiency and collaboration among stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Apply for, amend, and surrender statutory environmental approvals and permits.
  • Advise projects on permitting strategy and associated risks.
  • Keep stakeholders informed of changes to environmental approvals, regulations, legislation, and policies.
  • Identify and implement streamlining efficiencies to enhance the administration of regulatory approvals.
  • Engage with regulatory authorities to advocate for and negotiate project approvals.
  • Promote awareness of compliance with regulatory requirements among project teams.
Qualifications/Requirements for the role:
  • High focus on water, dam, and decommissioning assets, with experience interacting with regulators and government agencies.
  • An environmental, planning, science, or law degree (essential).
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in environmental approvals.
  • Strong knowledge of State and Federal environmental legislation and policies, along with a broad understanding of national and international standards for impact assessment.
  • Proven ability to prepare high-quality application documents for timely regulatory approval.
  • Highly organized with the capacity to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Skilled in identifying project requirements and delivering innovative, sustainable solutions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a proactive approach to stakeholder engagement.
