Bulk Plant Operator
Job Description: The Bulk Plant Operator 1 reports to the bulk plant manager, or operations management. The Bulk Plant Operator 1 will assist with inventory control and keeping the plant in good working order so that blending of materials can be completed in a systematic and well organized manner. The Bulk Plant Operator I will assist under supervision will assist within the activities in the bulk plant. The activities under supervision which include but are not limited to maintenance, loading jobs, spotting equipment, offloading equipment, and quality checks. The Bulk Plant Operator I will also assist with transportation scheduling, and acid blending, if and when needed.
Key Accountabilities
• Develops necessary skills to operate bulk plant equipment, as well as the ability to
identify, maintain, and troubleshoot said equipment.
• Complies with all company and client Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) practices
and guidelines.
• Participates in safety meetings, writes safety observations, and ensures JSA’s are
followed.
• Know, follow, and periodically review bulk plant requirements, processes, and
procedures, as outlined in the bulk plant standard document.
• Assist with receiving and storage of delivered materials.
• Assists in connecting and securing vessels/vehicles for discharge and receiving of bulk
materials under supervision.
• Assists with gathering, weighing out materials, and loading materials into hopper under
supervision.
• Assist with valve alignment checks on bulk equipment under supervision.
• Ensures that all supplies and materials are properly labeled, stored, and or disposed of.
• Assists with the affixing of labels to bulk trailer tanks under supervision.
• Assist with spotting of equipment at the bulk plant.
• Complete all required QHSE, and Competencies for job role.
• Learn basic functions and operation of a cement bulk plant.
• Learn the different components and maintenance activities for the cement bulk plant.
• Learn Inventory processes.
• Learn and adhere to quality assurance and quality control measures utilized in the
cement bulk plant.
• Blows down and maintains bulk equipment.
• Maintains and keeps up with the cleanliness of the bulk plant.
• Requires maintained eligibility to drive company light-duty and commercial vehicles.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Ability to read, write and speak English to the extent that they are able to understand
verbal and written instructions as well as give verbal and written instructions in English;
and the ability to use simple mathematical calculations using whole numbers, fractions
and decimals (addition, subtraction, division and multiplication) to make job related
calculations.
• Must possess strong written and verbal communications skills
• Must be able to work independently with high attention to detail
• Must possess analytical and problem solving skills
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Ability to effectively communicate
• A strong commitment to safety, working as a team, and operational excellence.
