Responsibilities:
• Assists in oversight of the ~$250 million annual expense budget to ensure spend is within budget.
• Drives the monthly/annual/ multi-year Corporate Planning budgeting/ forecasting process for the IT organization (reconciliation, variance analysis, accruals).
• Validation and investigation of unplanned spend requests against budget.
• Meets as frequently as required with extended IT Leadership team to forecast financial changes in response to changes in IT solutions.
• Builds adhoc/ monthly, quarterly, annual spend reports for CIO and IT Directors.
• Performs spend analysis of IT budget by business capability.
• Works closely with the IT Portfolio team as accounting treatment changes from capital to expense and expense to capital are common scenarios.
• Liaises with Corporate Accounting to structure monthly pre-pay, journal and accruals submissions.
• Liaises with Accounting Research to determine appropriate financial treatment for IT projects and initiatives.
Qualifications:
• Must be willing to work in the office in downtown Calgary.
• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
• Minimum of 5+ years of experience in a budgetary/accounting role working with an ERP Financial System.
• Minimum of 3+ years working knowledge/relevant experience within an IT department.
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
• Outstanding attention to detail with demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to adapt to conflicting demands and constantly evolving priorities.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and proven ability to work effectively with all organizational levels.
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
