Job Title: Business Solutions Architect
Business Unit: Networks
Hours of work: 08:30 – 16:45
Working days: Monday to Friday.
Position Description
The Business Solution Architect is a key stakeholder in defining and implementing IT and Digital Strategy, and is responsible for guiding IT strategy and innovation, along with researching / proposing future strategic solutions and blueprints to solve business challenges.
The role of the Business Solution Architect is to carry out tasks and responsibilities as assigned, in a competent, timely, and safe manner. This involves working closely with key company stakeholders to understand business needs, which will ensure that short and long-term business objectives are supported by appropriate and cost-effective IT and digital solutions. Aligning with and maintaining the company future reference architecture is a key priority.
The role requires engagement across every level of the networks division to capture the strategic needs of the Business from an IT and Digital perspective. The successful candidate will then work with Enterprise Services to coordinate innovative IT and Digital solutions.
The role is dynamic, and the responsibilities will vary on a day-to-day basis. This position will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to get a deep understanding of company networks as well as developing and enhancing the following skills:
· Project Management Methodologies
· Quality Control Methodologies
· Procurement processes
· Stakeholder management
· Financial and procurement approvals.
Key Responsibilities
Key responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to:
· Ensure the continued integrity of Networks systems, data and processes through conformance with company CIO Strategies, Regulations, Corporate Policies and Standards, including Licence Management, Privacy by Design, and Safety by Design.
· Participate in SDDA (System and Data Design Authority) Group.
· Long-term strategic planning through researching global utility specific industry technology.
developments in order to anticipate changes in the business and proactively identify where
technology can enable those changes for up to a 5-year horizon.
· Support annual IT and Digital planning with the Business, with a specific focus on Digital.
· Work with Enterprise Services to create and maintain up-to-date system and capability maps
· Act as Networks IT Business Solution Architect providing innovative solutions and options, and early stage architecture proposals to meet the Business needs both now and into the future.
· Analyse and challenge solution designs coming from Definition phase and PIDs coming from Preparation phase.
· Provide input into Project Scope and Design activities.
· Support the resolution of IT delivery problems of varying degrees of complexity.
· Demonstrate technology leadership through the delivery via pilots, proof of concepts, feasibility studies, etc.
· Support the procurement of IT solutions/services from internal and external service providers.
· Engaging with strategic IT vendors and develop new vendor relationships.
· Play a role in business and IT governance groups to manage the approval of changes through our enterprise SAP systems.
· Analyse and challenge solution designs in changes to both SAP S/4 and SAP ISU systems.
· Play a role alongside the business pillar leads and Enterprise Architecture in developing 5 year system roadmaps.
· Engage with projects requiring procurements to shape the technical and business requirements in both PQQ and RFT documents, and where required play an evaluation role for key procurements.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential
· 10 years relevant business and/or IT Utilities experience.
· Experience of business process analysis, capturing business requirements and options analysis.
· Experience working in project delivery environments (Prince 2, Agile, other).
· Experience with Solutions and Technical Designs, either in Solutions Architect or Design Authority roles.
· Excellent communication skills – ability to communicate information regarding the project in a timely and
effective manner.
· Ability to manage stakeholders, and to work with individuals from all levels within the organisation.
· Knowledge of IT systems, cybersecurity, quality control and testing methodologies.
· Knowledge of the following system technologies:
Qualifications
Essential
A recognised third level qualification in an IT or Business discipline, or equivalent work experience is essential.
Desirable
Solution Architecture qualification.
Location
Base location - Dublin 18; occasional attendance at Dublin 3, and Dublin 11.
Hybrid working will be a feature of this role, combining remote working with attendance at base for in-person training/collaboration, initially up to 2 days per week, subject to ongoing review.
Anticipated start date
As soon as possible
Duration
Twelve months with an option to extend.
