The client:
A major player in the metals game, this company has a number of operations here in WA. The company places significant value on the community, the environment and fosters a healthy workplace culture. Management of the the Procurement team has worked hard to create a high performing, collaborative culture which fosters a sense of innovation and continuous improvement.

You will be joining a team of 16 and the Procurement team shares the one office. Things are very busy and so, collaboration is key. Your leader has your best interests in mind and is one who empowers you to to be the best that you can. There is some flexibility in the role and your leader will work with you to create something that works for all parties.

My client is initially seeking a candidate on a 12-month FT contract, with likelihood to extend. You will commence on a DIDO roster to site and once settled, work out a roster with your manager that includes 2 days WFH. 5:2 schedule.

The role:
The primary purpose of the Capital Procurement Specialist is to act as the single point of accountability across multiple locations to the Capital Procurement Manager in managing all activities associated with sourcing and supply of all materials, equipment and services and associated contracts are managed for allocated capital projects.

Typical duties include:
  • Manage supplier contractual obligations to ensure that projects receive their goods/service on schedule, in full, as per specification and managing capital procurement commitments in line with project approvals
  • Manage the negotiation process and contract management of all elements of assigned projects and supplier relationships
  • Minimise commercial risk through the implementation of robust commercial and contractual terms, whilst reducing the total cost of acquisition and ownership
  • Managing suppliers to identifying schedule and specification risks
  • Manage the performance of allocated projects
  • Develop, lead and implement strategic and tactical plans to meet project needs
  • Identify and execute opportunities for procurement cost reduction and supplier performance improvement

What you'll need:
  • Experience in procurement, supply chain management or purchasing from a mining, oil & gas or energy background
  • The ability to work effectively in a team
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to build rapport with multiple stakeholders
  • Exposure to Oracle or SAP Ariba is preferred
