This individual would be responsible for the planning and scheduling activities for a brand new state of the art R&D facility being built in downtown Charlotte. Job Details
Location: Charlotte, NC—Some hybrid WFH flexibility.
Hours: 40 hours per week—Some OT will be required.
Pay Range: Negotiable based on experience. Relocation assistance will be considered for out of market candidates.
Duration: Contract to Hire  

Responsibilities

PROJECT PLANNER RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Oversee, identify plan deviations, and recommend resolution for project manager.
  • Monitor performance and determine improvement areas by developing key performance indicators for critical department metrics.
  • Complete ad hoc assignments to support capital transmission project delivery.
  • Create and execute internal controls and offer Internal Auditor services to assure controls.
  • Maintain current and forecasted Cash Flow data when compared to projected Cash Flow.
  • Manage project accounting databases to ensure timely security and control.
  • Offer direct financial communication with project team, internal financing department, sub-contractors, and Joint Venture owners.
  • Ensure financial information accuracy between program-level and subproject reporting.
  • Support Project Management Office Supervisor in project financial management and divisional reporting.
  • Administer and coordinate routine contract work using prescribed and standardized methods.
  • Coordinate with Fleet administrative staff to correct income entry and equipment cost errors.
  • Conduct cost variance analysis and schedule against baseline values through PMI Earned Value Measurement technique.
  • Enforce actual project data collection and weekly accurate estimates.
  • Recommend and execute corrective actions to handle project compliance.
  • Plan for high-risk project strategic initiatives and ensure correct duration estimated tasks.

PROJECT SCHEDULER RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Create a high-level master schedule that incorporates the initial CPM schedule and the contractors’ schedule.
  • Track critical activities and changes to the critical path impacting the project.
  • Keep an eye on program milestones and interdependencies.
  • Utilize industry accepted methodologies to analyze delays.
  • Provide information on items impacting the project schedule.
  • Responsible for spotting the critical path, as well as proffering alternatives to regain slippage to the schedule.
  • Strategize ways to negotiate claims, including office overhead, labor, and equipment costs.
  • Document changes integrated into the project schedule.
  • Provide a summary and report on project progress.
  • Spot project risks and include impact analysis for review by project team.

Job Qualifications
  • Must have at least 5+ years planning/scheduling, project controls, or similar.
  • Must have previous experience with MS Project and Primavera P3 and/or P6.
  • Must have at least 2+ years of experience planning/scheduling capital construction projects.
  • Previous experience in the chemicals industry would be a big plus.
  • Candidates local to the Charlotte, NC area would be a big plus.
