About the business and the role:
Monkeytoe Group is a huge NZ success story, they are an Australasian company, headquartered in New Zealand (South Taranaki), they are highly specialised and lead the Australasian market in their niche work, while their brand is well recognised.  They have two manufacturing facilities; one in Hawera NZ, and the other in Victoria Australia with branches in many locations across NZ.  Monkeytoe focus on the designing, supplying and installation of aluminium structures, which are generally assembled using standard components but custom configurations. The structures they work with include roof top HVAC platforms, permanent stair towers, mezzanine floors, custom access solutions and their products are installed across New Zealand and Australia.

Their clients include architects and builders nationally and large clients across New Zealand including the NZ Refinery in Whangarei and the Aluminium Smelter in Bluff.  Monkeytoe are innovative and have a real passion for what they do. 

In this newly created role (responsible for their 4 business entities in both countries) and in line with Monkeytoe’s growth (annual turnover circa $50 - $60 million with further growth aspirations), you will be reporting to their CEO and will have direct responsibility for finance, treasury, taxation, risk management, internal/ external auditing, IT and financial control and reporting. The CFO will have a significant role in the leadership, formulation, and contribution to the strategy of the business, including supporting mergers and acquisitions and in ensuring the creation of shareholder value over the long term.

You will join a capable and supportive management team who are focussed on growth and success in NZ and further growth and expansion into the Australian market. Your team management experience, finance and IT skills will be paramount as well as your strong leadership capabilities.

The role will support the CEO globally with insightful and informative analysis to support key business decisions. The following points outline the key purposes of the position.
  • Provide insight and analysis to support the Management Team and the Board strategy planning.
  • Ensuring business decisions are grounded in sound financial criteria.
  • Leading key initiatives in finance that support overall strategic goals.
  • Funding, enabling and executing strategy of the Global CEO and organisation.
  • Representing the organisations progress on strategic goals to external stakeholders.

You will have a strong track record of success in an international business environment – most likely to be engineering, manufacturing or another contract/ project-management based business, as well as been able to demonstrable commercial nous, be able to assess and balance risk, and have a broad-minded approach to business analysis.

You will be degree qualified, plus have further professional accountancy qualifications such as full Chartered Accountant status.
