NES Fircroft are working on behalf of a global power technology business sourcing a Civil Construction Manager to join on a consultancy basis. Mission Statement: Lead all on-site construction/civil works activities in alignment with project delivery schedule/activities to assure cost-effective execution on project deliverables in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards, schedule, and safety requirements. You will working on a high profile infrastructure project based in Beverley East Riding Yorkshire
This role has been assessed as Inside IR35 (Umbrella & PAYE Only)
Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
1. Site Planning and coordination of all construction/civil works, including necessary local resources, equipment, suppliers, and milestones. Coordinates agreement between customer and external resources on construction targets, health and safety requirements, site organization and policy.
2. Project Financial and Cost Management Supports in negotiation of subcontracts specific terms and conditions as well as technical and operational requirements, including awareness of risks with impact on margin, performance, and quality. Controls project cost for the construction/civil works, monitors actual spending against forecasts, and estimates final costs.
3. Risk Management Ensures implementation of the applicable risk mitigations resulting from Lessons Learnt from previous projects. Follows up on the risk mitigation actions identified by the project, related to the construction/civil works scope, and ensures its timely implementation.
4. Site coordination and monitoring Responsible, from access to site to the end of all construction/civil works (including punch items, Lessons Learnt registry and Close Out report to the C&C Management) for coordinating all on-site construction/civil works activities to ensure the successful execution of start-up, construction, erection, testing and commissioning activities in alignment with contract specifications and requirements, quality standards, schedule, and safety requirements. Ensures that all changes are identified and communicated to Site Manager/Project Construction & Commissioning Manager and regularly reports site progress, financials, hindrances, state of material supply etc.
5. Meetings Conducts site meetings related to construction/civil works with Customer, Subcontractors, and site personnel.
6. Stakeholder relations Serves as a project representative, within the construction/civil works area of responsibility, by building and maintaining effective relationships with customers as well as other local organizations such as authorities, banks, and suppliers to ensure their active support of site activities.
7. Subcontractors Supports the in the evaluation and selection of the Subcontractors. Manages the Subcontractors on site hired by HPG, and with the support of the Site Civil Supervisors, makes detailed working plans with each Subcontractor. Ensures the required quality according to the standards, as well as the progress achieved to meet the contractual and planned delivery dates.
8. Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Ensures detailed and up-to-date Site Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Plan is in place, in respect to each work package, and compliant with the HPG HSE plan. Ensures all on-site resources are properly trained on the HPG’s HSE policy and proactively promotes HSE considerations to project partners throughout the project. Empowered to suspend any activities on site (be it by HPG’s personnel or by Subcontractors) in case of Operational Health and Safety (OHS) violation and, if a situation arises, takes the necessary steps to ensure that HPG’s employees and other persons who may be present are not put at risk.
9. Quality (Q) Ensures that a detailed and up-to-date and compliant Site Quality Plan is in place in respect to each work package. Ensures that Monitoring & Inspection of construction/civil works to specified requirements, according to the Q100 process, is performed.
10. Material handling Ensures correct handling, storage and installation of HPG‘s delivered equipment (Of buildings’ services, if any) according to the manufacturer’s guidelines, including coordination of on-site storage and shipment logistics to secure timely site delivery of equipment and material.
11. Documentation Ensures that all documentation is revised and updated as necessary, the document handling system is continuously maintained, and latest revisions are used for the construction work on site.
12. People leadership and development Organizes and manages the Site Civil Supervisors group on site. Instructs newly arrived personnel about safety guidelines for working on site. Ensures that all personnel on site have received the correct training for the job.
