Civil Structural Engineer

 PERSONAL REQUIREME

Qualification
The Senior Civil/Structural Engineer shall hold an engineering degree in Civil Engineering and preferably a chartered engineer in either the United Kingdom  Institution of Civil Engineers or the Institution of Structural Engineers or equivalent recognized Institution..

Experience

1. Civil and Structural experience in a Process Design Industry.
2. Shall be proficient in the tasks below.
   1. Foundation design both shallow and piled for a variety of structures - dynamic equipment e.g. compressors, building foundations, static equipment and piperack structures
   2. The structural design of site built  steelwork such as piperacks, buildings, Equipment supports.
   3. Design of modular structures (piping modules, equipment skids)
   4. Underground gravity drainage experience is an advantage
3. Have knowledge in the use of industry wide software package – STAAD-Pro,
4. Use of various international design standards – AISC, IBC,ASCE, Eurocodes

Qualities

1. Will be required to have a good approach to health and safety
2. Abilities to work across multi discipline teams. He/she will be required to work independently representing the Civil Department
3. An all-round flexible Civil and Structural Engineer willing to commit time and effort to achieve project requirements
4. Be proactive and enthusiastic.  
5. Able to work with different cultures and diversity around the world, in particular with offices in India.
6. Prepared to travel within Europe when required, for a few days duration
7. Require very good communication skills in both verbal and written English

 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Support the Lead Civil/Structural Engineer on the project.
2. Be a Civil/Structural Engineer to support  the delivery of the civil and structural scope
   1. Up to Basic Engineering Phase and then hand over to the detail design Centre in India
   2. By undertaking the work independently
   3. Up to Basic Engineering and then review the detail design by an external design Company.   
3. Assist in the development of  the Scope of Work for Plant Buildings ‘design and build’ contracts  (e.g. compressor houses, office building maintenance Building- Prefabricated or site built.)
4. Provide hands on technical support with the development of foundations and steelwork structures concepts during the Proposal to generate the MTO Estimate.
5. Assist with the development of the Functional Execution strategy
6. Provide hands on technical support to develop the proposal concepts further in the Basic Engineering stage and update the MTO.
7. Provide technical support during the detail design stage to review the work of Others against the Basic concepts.  
8. Suggest  economical ways in designing the work.
