Concept/ R&D Engineer Electrical

We are looking for an Electrical Engineer for our client who is in oil&gas industry and specialised in offshore an fpso. This position is located in the Rotterdam area and it's a 1 year contractor position with a possibility to extend it.

Your responsibilities include ensuring assigned engineering activities are executed with a high degree of understanding of Electrical power generation/distribution systems and electrical equipment. You will also be responsible for the selection of methods and procedures, performance of the work, and optimization of the design within the scope of the project specifications. You make sure the design and installation of equipment is in compliance with international codes, Company specifications, and industry standards and regulations. You may be assigned as a Package Engineer with technical responsibility for the design, procurement and manufacture of the Package. As an Electrical Engineer, you must work with Engineers and Designers both within and outside the discipline to produce quality work and safeguard the Company’s interests.

Responsibilities:

• Make sure assigned engineering and concept development activities are executed with a high degree of understanding of Electrical power generation/distribution systems and electrical equipment.
• Assisting the Technology Lead & other team members to execute Technology readiness assessments and studies in the field of Electrical engineering. Key Deliverables – To produce, check and review include:
  • Design Basis
  • Preliminary Data Sheets
  • Preliminary Material Requisition for (RFQs) long lead items like Generator, Transformer, HV Switchgear, Power Management System, AC & DC Distribution Boards, etc.
• Coordinate with technology providers / vendors, third party consultants, etc. to ensure timely review of high level proposal documents and that comments are made with required quality level.
• Sizing Calculations like Power cables, Transformer, UPS, Battery Charger, System Studies.
• Single Line Diagrams, Electrical Interconnection Diagrams
• Electrical Equipment Layout
• Preliminary Material Take Off ( MTO)
• Able to size on high level an electrical power system at MV or HV and understand its consequences on power generation and distribution
• Knowledge of relevant international codes and standards such as IEC, API, IS, IP, DNV etc.
• Software Competencies required : ETAP

Experience:
5- 10 years relevant experience in the offshore Oil & Gas industry with specific experience on Electrical Engineering and design for Offshore Oil and Gas facilities – Wellhead platforms, Fixed Process Platforms, FPSO topsides modules & Turret Mooring System. Experience and / or affinity with new technologies such as Offshore Wind, energy storage and VFD’s will be advantageous, but not required.
 
Education:
Engineering degree in Electrical.
