Woodside Energy are currently seeking a Contracts Adviser for a 12-month contract with potential to extend.

Based in the Perth office, the Contracts Adviser - New Energy and Carbon APAC is a key member of the contracts team who will lead and drive commercial outcomes in the across multiple divisions for BD & Origination New Energy, Engineering and Technology, and Carbon Solutions. The candidate will support the contracting life cycle activities by preparing plans to approach the market, issue tenders, negotiate with existing and potential contractors, prepare justifications to obtain approvals and support post award contract management.

Being the leader in the New Energy market is a major strategic focus area for Woodside, with plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2050. Our New Energy and Carbon projects will facilitate the transition, and this role will play a critical part in their next steps in responding to climate change and diversifying our business portfolio, through activities such as hydrogen production projects, carbon capture and storage projects, and carbon credit origination farming.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Lead contractual and commercial outcomes in the designated portfolio area across the BD&O APAC New Energy, Engineering and Technology, and Carbon Solutions teams.
  • Ensure contracts, purchase orders and call-offs comply with the Contracting Work Instructions in Our WMS.
  • Take accountability of the contracting lifecycle from Category Strategies, Contracting Plans, RFxs, Negotiation Plans, Tender Evaluation Plans, Contract Approval Forms for execution of contracts, Contract Variations, and other associated approval documents.
  • Continually identify and pursue commercial and cost saving opportunities within the portfolio.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders to ensure evaluation criteria, terms & conditions, and departures are accurate.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure adequate representation and visibility of commercial matters. Ensure that contracting and commercial services are given sufficient front-end consideration in the development of Category Strategies, Contracting Strategies and project schedules.
  • Ensure delivery of business needs to schedule, cost and quality.
  • Compile and monitor vendor market intelligence.
Skills & Experience:
  • Hold a qualification in Business, Commerce, Law, Quantity Surveying, Engineering or similar. Minimum 5+ years’ experience as a Category Specialist or Contracts Advisory role.
  • Experience with a full tender life cycle, specifically within the strategy and pre-award stage.
  • Effective written, presentation and verbal communication to all internal and external levels.
  • Proven negotiation experience.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrate people and stakeholder management skills.
  • Effective decision making in the presence of uncertainty and risk and considering and balancing business dimensions e.g. technical, cost, schedule.
  • An individual who is passionate, resilient, and flexible with working on demanding projects.
