Position Summary

The main principals of the role include providing support to the Project Design Package (PDP), Front End Engineering Development (FEED) and demonstration plant deployment.  A key area of the role will involve the provision of supporting the Plant Automation, Safety, and Instrumentation systems.  Serving as the interface on assigned projects, the role supports the proposal and estimate activities together with the development of specifications.

The successful candidate will possess extensive practical experience of the full spectrum of tasks associate to the safe execution of project delivery.  Together with the relevant certifications required for the operational activities within the geographical areas of project delivery and or the willingness to obtain such certification as appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • Support PDP development, pilot plant design and fabrication, and ongoing front end project development; transitioning work into FEED and EPC.
  • Serves as interface on assigned projects to supports proposal and estimate activities, develop and reviews specifications including design criteria, develop and monitors schedules, monitor material estimates and quantities, interfaces with project disciplines/client representatives/construction, participate in equipment and material procurement activities, permitting activities and subcontracting activities
  • Development of key deliverables associated to the Control Narrative.
  • Development of Cause-and-Effect Table.
  • Develop and review instrument and relief specifications and interface with suppliers and engineering contractors.
  • Performs and checks calculations, specifies equipment, and solves problems of moderate engineering complexity
  • Reviews specifications, drawings, and vendor equipment documentation from both within the discipline as well as from other disciplines for compliance with project requirements and actively seeks resolution
  • Specification of Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) and High Integrity Pressure Protection Systems (HIPS)
  • Understanding implementation of Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA).
  • Understanding and implementation of overall process control philosophy.
  • Lead the identification and implementation of discipline specific software as appropriate
  • Ensures adherence to applicable Industry codes and standards 
  • Provides close interface with, and promotes the understanding of, other discipline functions
  • Collaborate in management and coordination of activities among all project functions and engineering disciplines in accordance with the established project baseline documents
  • Provide general engineering support and coordination with licensors, engineering contractors and clients.
  • Support coordination between design, procurement, material management and construction on technical and schedule requirements
  • Assist the Project Director/Project Manager (PD/PM) in developing the required documentation to communicate (client/internal) project contractual and technical issues, status and progress reports; conduct/coordinate related meeting as necessary
  • Other related duties/functions as assigned
  • Collaboration with other individuals and groups: Process Engineering Group and Catalyst Technology Group.  Third Party Vendors and Suppliers.
Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline from accredited university preferred
  • Minimum of 5+ years Experience working FEED, detailed design in control systems engineering on EPC projects
  • Demonstrable practical experience gained in an engineering related commercial environment
  • Professional membership of a recognized engineering body
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to multi-task and deliver to deadlines
  • Demonstrable interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to liaise on all levels.
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Office to include O365, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent report writing skills, to include technical and commercial content#
  • Analytical approach to problem solving and identifying potential solutions
