The position works closely with Project Managers, team members, Engineering / Construction contractors, Operations, and other project Stakeholders. The Controls Analyst is accountable for monitoring and reporting the project’s cost and schedule information in an accurate and timely manner. This includes project set-up, monitoring contractors cost and schedule, updating overall cost and schedule, generating reports and managing project changes (scope changes and trends).

Job Responsibilities:
• Develop Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) for project phases
• Work with fixed assets team to create/revise/add WBS elements as needed
• Develop spend plans/baselines at the WBS level
• Load spend plans in SAP
• Communicate project controls requirements to contractors
• Review and monitor contractors’ reports
• Review and monitor contractors’ schedules
• Perform monthly forecasts by WBS in SAP
o Receive essential data
o Manage commitments
o Validate progress
o Review and analyze vendor/contractor data
o Review and update owner’s cost
o Update contingency
o Validate change requests
o Publish forecast and cost variance analysis
• Create and distribute weekly/monthly reports
• Work with finance on monthly forecasts and annual spends
• Close out WBS elements/projects in a timely manner
• Capture lessons learned
• Produce close out documentation as required
• Produce analysis reports for past and future project comparisons

Basic Required Attributes:
• 5+ years direct experience in similar role
• Effective communication within team and with stakeholders
• Practical experience in critical project management concepts and tools (e.g., Work Breakdown Structures, Earned Value Management, Critical Path Method Scheduling, Cost Forecasting, Risk Analysis)
• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
• Proficient knowledge of Analysis for Office, SAP BI and Power BI

Preferred Attributes:
• 5+ years of demonstrated success in a project controls position
• SAP Project System, Business Warehouse experience
• Working knowledge of Primavera and or Microsoft Project
• Familiarity with refinery project work
• Familiarity with Front End Loading Phase Gate Process
• Superior drive to continuously improve
