Our client a Global Oil and Gas Operator in Perth are currently seeking a Cost Controller for a 12-month contract.
The purpose of the Cost Controller Operations role is to manage the Cost Control function for the Operation Depts.
  •  Monitoring Cost Performance.
  • Preparing Monthly reports.
  • Providing Cost Control support to Operations, Exploration, Renewables and Well Operations functional areas.
  • Provide support to Contract Holder with Post Award Contract.
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Budget and Forecast preparation in coordination and under the direction of the Cost Control Coordinator & Operations Manager.
  • Monitor the monthly expenditure, and the variances versus budget and Forecast . Monthly Cost Reporting with Stakeholders.
  • Maintain all aspects of Cost Control (supported by in-house Software).
  • Raise and monitor Purchase Requisitions (PR’s), Call Offs, Service Entries and Goods Receipt Notes (GRN’s).
  • Ensure Cost Control activity is aligned to Work Breakdown Structure.
  • Monitor field cost estimates against Contract Terms. Provide advice on requirements to increase Contract Ceilings (ACV’s.) and monitor contract expiry dates.
  • Monitor, review and Track invoices / costs from services companies.
  • Provide cost control expertise and support and interface with other Departments as required.
  • Assist with Value of Work Done (VOWD) reports and month end accruals.
  • Prepare responses for Headquarter relevant information requests.
  • Understand and support the achievement of the Company’s KPI targets.
  • Understand and comply with the Company’s Cost Control Compliance procedures.
  • Support Internal, Joint Venture and Statutory Audit processes and procedures.
  • Support identification of Threats & Opportunities within the area of
  • Cost control, ensuring pro-active methods, sharing knowledge and assist in improving routines.
Main Interfaces
INTERNAL: (Direct and functional reporting relationships; interaction within and between departments and functions).
  • Reports to the Cost Control Coordinator.
  • Liaise with Managers and individuals within the Operations & Other listed Departments for budget preparation, cost control and contract preparation as well as providing Cost Control expertise and support.
  • Liaise with the Finance Department for cost allocation and reconciliation issues.
  • Liaise with the Contract Administrator’s as of invoice QA/QC.
  • Liaise with the Procurement Department, keeping track of the progress on tenders, contract awards and contract validity.
EXTERNAL:
  • Liaise with JV partners for budget reporting if necessary.
  • Liaise with JV Auditors / External Auditors
  • Liaise with counterparts in other companies to ensure cordial relations and swift dispute resolution.
  • Meet with all Operations contractors on a regular basis to ensure compliance with Finance Policy.
Key Skills and Experience Required:
  • Minimum 5-7 years Cost Control experience in the Resource sectors.
  • Relevant Oil & Gas Industry experience would be preferable.
  • Conversant with Key facets of O&G Project and Operational activities i.e. AFE, Budget, Variations, VOWD, Cost Estimating, Cost
  • Phasing, Cost Analysis, Cost Reporting , Cost Risk Reviews Close Out Reporting and Project Controls.
  • Detailed working knowledge of SAP.
  • Relevant Degree or Experience, i.e., Cost Engineering, Accounting or similar qualification.
  • Professional Qualification added advantage.
