Aker Solutions Inc is seeking an exceptional and adventurous individual to join our team as a Floating Systems Integrity Engineer to our team of major projects. As a Structural Integrity Engineer, you will have the chance to immerse yourself in different cultures, engage with diverse teams, and broaden your horizons. We are looking for someone who thrives in dynamic environments, possesses excellent problem-solving skills, and has a passion for innovation. The position will be located in Houston, Texas. You must be able to work in the United States without work authorization assistance now or in the future.
What will you be doing:
- Developing, delivering and implementing Integrity Management programs including inspection processes, fit for purpose assessments, risk-based assessments (RBA), inspection and monitoring programs
- Preparing and updating structural inspection strategies, component criticality assessment, inspection plans and work packs
- Reviewing structural inspection reports for anomalies, completing risk assessments and identifying mitigations
- Review structural analysis & endorsement of technical submissions from 3rd party and modifications contractors
- Preparation and update of structural inspection strategies (hull & topsides), component criticality assessment, inspection plans and work packs
- Conceptual and detail engineering for development and repair schemes (e.g. repair clamps, composite material repairs, steelwork replacements)
- Technical input to risk assessments and risk-based inspection assessments
- Technical input to failure mechanism identification
- Structural analysis and hand calculations
- Provide marine expertise related to stability, mooring and global performance
We think you should have:
- Minimum bachelor degree in Civil/Structural/Naval Architecture/Ocean Engineering or related discipline, masters or higher preferred
- 5+ years’ experience in design and analysis of floating offshore structures, i.e. hull structure, mooring and global performance
- 2+ years’ experience in Structural Integrity Management from O&G industry with a solid understanding of structural behavior of floating structures
- Experienced in performing engineering fitness for service assessments
- Experienced in performing evaluation and assessment of inspection results and propose mitigating measures
- Experience in RBI planning, implementation, and follow-up of activities
- Knowledge in inspection techniques and execution
- Understanding of USCG, BSEE and ABS rules/regulations
- Understanding of Industry Codes and Standards (API 2FPS, 2A, 2SIM, etc.)
- Basic understanding of surface preparation, coating and the ability to assess coating conditions (assessment scale for breakdown)
- Strong desire to learn, innovate and contribute to both group and individual success and ongoing professional development
- Presentation and meeting skills.
- Good communicator at all levels within the organization and with external clients.
- Must be a ‘team player’
- Good command of the English language and be able to communicate well in both verbal and written form, both internally and to the Client
