Job Title: Health & Safety Coordinator
Location: Calgary, AB
Length: 12-Month contract with possible extension
Rotation: M-F in office with up to a 50% monthly field commitment
The Role
Our client is currently seeking a (Contract) Health & Safety Coordinator to support both Calgary and Field Locations. Reporting to the Sr. HSE Coordinator, the successful incumbent will be responsible in supporting the health and safety performance of the Drilling, Completions and Construction teams. The geographical footprint for this role is shared between Calgary and the Northeast BC area. The incumbent will be based out of Calgary with up to a 50% monthly field commitment with the expectation of on-call support over weekends as required.

The Role
Our client is currently seeking a (Contract) Health & Safety Coordinator to support both Calgary and Field Locations. Reporting to the Sr. HSE Coordinator, the successful incumbent will be responsible in supporting the health and safety performance of the Drilling, Completions and Construction teams. Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Engage with functional areas/on-site support personnel to promote Health & Safety initiatives and drive safety culture
- Provide deep subject matter expertise in areas of H&S, such as; lifting/rigging, ground disturbance, energy isolation, working at heights, permit to work, exposure control and/or confined space
- Work alongside the clients appointed Calgary based Superintendents, Technical Advisors and Engineers as required to assure HSE requirements of job scopes are being met under the requirements of the Companies HSMS and all local regulations
- Responsible for the quality and repeatability of onsite orientations for all workers on location. This includes the mentorship and coaching of any contractor providing orientations on behalf of the Person in Charge
- Delivers quality inspections, verifications and assurance related tasks for all HSMS programs
- Actively leads, participates, and/or supports HSE Incident Management and Investigation requirements for UA/UC, Near Miss and Incidents. Including Maximo, Contractor Engagement, Action Tracking, Incident Notifications, Root Cause Analysis and ERP.
Required Education, Experience and Skills
- Strong communication skills in a high paced environment
- Self-directed and a self-starter
- Strong background in Drilling, Completions and Construction, while working under a Prime Contractor considered an asset
- Post-secondary education in a related field
- A professional Health & Safety designation such as Certified Registered Safety
- Professional (CRSP) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) considered an asset
- 6-10 years of progressively more responsible health and safety experience, directly related to the upstream oil and gas industry
- Previous experience leading investigations, completing thorough investigation reports and presenting to leaders on learnings
- Familiar with environmental issues and regulatory frameworks for BC
- Solid knowledge of BC Occupational Health & Safety regulations
