Our client is a famous Mining Operator in Australia and they have a huge mining site based in NT.

We're looking for an Heavy Mining Equipment Project Engineer – Additional Fleet to join them.
  • Location: ideally based in Darwin, NT or Cairns, QLD as the mobilization would be from these 2 cities.
  • Roster: 4d3d on site or 2wk1wk on site
  • Contract Length: 12 Months with the likelihood of extension
  • Rate: Day rate up to 1000 AUD a day (10-12 hours a day)
Job Overview

As a Heavy Mining Equipment Project Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the project lifecycle. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, clients, and suppliers to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Your expertise will drive the successful completion of mining equipment projects while adhering to safety regulations and industry best practices.

Main Job Duties

Assist the Additional Fleet HME Project Manager tollgate and deliver over $100M of new fleet (785 trucks, dozers, graders ,service carts, etc.)

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Planning: Develop and execute project plans, including scope, schedule, budget, and resource allocation. Define project objectives and deliverables.
  • Design and Development: Lead the design and development of heavy mining equipment, ensuring compliance with engineering standards and client specifications.
  • Technical Expertise: Apply your knowledge of mining equipment design, hydraulic systems, mechanical components, and electrical systems to solve complex engineering challenges.
  • Team Leadership: Build and lead project teams, providing clear direction, task assignments, and mentorship to achieve project goals.
  • Quality Assurance: Implement quality control processes to ensure that mining equipment meets or exceeds industry standards and client expectations.
  • Supplier Management: Work with suppliers to source components and materials, ensuring they meet project requirements and quality standards.
  • Risk Management: Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies. Proactively manage issues and changes that may affect project scope or schedule.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Maintain effective communication with clients, stakeholders, and project sponsors, providing regular updates on project status, risks, and opportunities.
  • Health and Safety: Promote a culture of safety in all project activities, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate project documentation, including project plans, reports, drawings, and change orders.
  • Commissioning and Maintenance: Oversee equipment commissioning and provide ongoing support for maintenance and troubleshooting.
Requirements
  • 5+ years’ experience in Mining Client side
  • HME/CAT experience/exposure
  • Toll-gating experience
  • FEL and EXE experience
  • SAP experience
  • MS Project/Primavera P6 experience
