Evolve Scientific are currently searching for a highly skilled Project Construction Engineer (HVAC Engineer) to join with one of our largest clients, a global leader in the Pharmaceuticals Industry. Our client is looking to bring aboard this highly skilled Engineer for a 6-month contract, with a strong outlook to extend. This role will be based in the northern suburbs of Melbourne.

The Opportunity:
The scope of this keystone project is to deliver compliant, fit for purpose manufacturing facilities and processes across multiple sites, for Influenza Cell Culture Vaccine (FCC), Antivenom (AV), Q Fever Vaccine (QFV), Filling, Inspection and Packaging (FIP), with licensure targeted from 2026.

The Project Engineer - Construction/ HVAC will be responsible for managing the construction of the FIP facilities to be delivered under the key project in the northern suburbs. This will be achieved as a key leader and contributor in the key project FIP team to deliver the project milestones within budget, collaborating closely with project and business leaders/teams to manage facility and equipment design, construction, qualification/validation, and licensure of the facilities and manufacturing processes for future business operations.

Reporting within the Project Engineering team, this position will be responsible for:
  • Lead Ensure that project tasks are managed in a way that creates a safe, healthy and secure workplace for the staff and contractors involved in implementing projects and for those using the facilities created or modified by these projects.
  • Assist in improving our client’s project management practice.
  • Ensure that project tasks are managed in a way that recognises GMP and the need to actively manage the risk of non-compliance.
  • Assist in planning and co-ordination of any plant shutdown activities.
  • Assist in or manage as directed, the development of operational and maintenance manuals and training materials.
  • Leading and delivering the project objectives, controlling scope changes to meet budget and schedule, functionality according to the URSs, Equipment TRSs, GMP, safety and environmental requirements during all phases of the project (Design, Procurement, Construction, Commissioning and Qualification);
  • All aspects of the facility design and construction for our client’s keystone project in the northern suburbs of Melbourne

  • Equipment FATs
  • Off-site Fabrication and On-site installation of equipment
  • FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing)
  • SAT (Site Acceptance Testing)
  • Commissioning of the building services 
  • Qualification of the HVAC and Cleanrooms
  • Driving value engineering initiatives and maintaining strategic engagement across multiple local and global business groups.
An ideal candidate must have:
  • Tertiary qualifications in engineering, or science.
  • Fundamental understanding of technical development concepts, tools and technologies as well as design techniques.
  • Fundamental level of technical knowledge in one Engineering discipline and ability to solve problems in design, testing and deployment.
  • Experience in troubleshooting, process engineering and ability to understand and implement client requirements.
  • Experience with installation, commissioning, and operation of HVAC systems, preferably on a greenfield site.
  • 3+ years of engineering or construction project management experience required;
  • A demonstrated ability to lead and work closely with multiple project teams and project managers to deliver large and highly complex projects;
  • An underlying process and engineering systems/services experience gained in the GxP industry.
  • Underlying knowledge of project management principles.
  • An underlying understanding of quality management systems and procedures.
  • An underlying understanding of risk management methodology and processes.
  • An underlying understanding of contract management and administration.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Intermediate skills in MS-Project, MS-Excel, MS-Word, MS-PowerPoint, MS-Visio and MS-Outlook.
  • An underlying understanding and application of GxP principles.
