We are currently recruiting an Instrument and Control Engineer for a Global Oil & Gas Operator in the Perth CBD with regular travel to Darwin required (approx. 1-2 weeks per month) an initial 12 month contract working within the Facilities Operations Engineering Department.

Primary Objective:
- Instrument and Control Engineer objectives include;
- Providing support to the clients operating assets to achieve safe, efficient and optimum operation
- Acting as technical focal point for instrument and control design modifications associated with operating assets
- Ensuring all modifications follow the management of change system
- Providing discipline expertise and technical guidance for the day to day operation of instrumentation and third party packages
- Support completion of assigned engineering operations assurance plan tasks
- Provide instrument and control support during facility shutdowns
- Participate in or lead incident investigations
- Identify and justify future work programs/improvements and ensure their inclusion in the facility budgets
- Support revalidation of HAZOP/LOPA/AoA reviews
- Support preparation of Simple, Non-Complex and Complex Software Change Requests (SCR)
- Ensure that the plant technical integrity is protected by managing instrumentation and control equipment in line with the commitments made as part of the safety case performance standards and design assumptions.
- Correct equipment is specified as part of the design
- Equipment is operated within performance standards
- Support review of plant changes associated with instrumentation and control equipment
- Prepare ICSS control bulletins to support design changes to facilities
- Drawings are maintained and are up to date
- Provide input into the maintenance planning process – 120 day, 45 day and 14 planning cycles.
- Provide input into major facility shutdown scope gathering and scope challenge sessions.
- Support maintenance campaign planning and scheduling.
- To be responsible for the content and quality of all work within the Instrument and Control discipline
- Organize and assist in technical reviews and audits
- Review the relevant instrument and control documents with reference to Operations Information list
- Provide technical support to Operations and Maintenance to operate the plant in a safe and optimal manner
- Support instrument and control equipment root cause analyses and or 5-Why reviews.
- Contribute in the ongoing development of instrumentation standards that will maximize reliability, design and maintenance efficiency, and minimize required spare parts inventory.
- Collaborate with Operations to improve existing process operations and reliability
- An Engineering Degree in either in Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering
- TUV or Equivalent Functional Safety Engineer
- Technical professional within discipline with project and operations experience
- Able to organize and/or carry out hands on technical evaluations in own sphere.
- Able to co-ordinate projects and activities and foster team awareness.
- Able to manage intercultural group sensitivities.
- Able to communicate with internal and external bodies on technical issues
- Strong planning, organization and time management skills
- Highly motivated
- Verifiable performance and delivery in positions of technical authority
