Do you want to play a role in solving global energy challenges for future generations?

At Aker Solutions we are committed to helping the energy industry and broader society #PowerTheChange towards a low-carbon future. We are changemakers and problem solvers with more than 180 years of experience. Our ambitions are high. By 2030, renewables and low-carbon solutions for oil and gas will make up two-thirds of our business. Do you want to be a part of driving the transition?

We are specialists in managing large projects from feasibility studies and conceptual engineering, through FEED and detailed engineering. Engineering is executing major projects across the globe in both oil and gas and renewables sectors. This includes Norway’s ground-breaking Brevik carbon capture project, as well as delivering engineering and design for Northern Lights, the world’s first CO₂ storage facility on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. Furthermore, we are investigating the design and delivery of future hydrogen and ammonia projects.

As part of a strategic alliance, we are also working on a large digitalization project as part of the development of the Hugin oil and gas field offshore Norway, whilst pioneering new digital solutions to make operations safer and more efficient.

Integrated Operations (IO) is the operating model for the future. As an engineering contractor, we shall ensure that the technical design supports digitalization for remote operation and monitoring. The technical design relies on sufficient instrumentation, sound data flow infrastructure, and digital and cloud applications.

We are now looking for an Integrated Operations Specialist Engineer who can strengthen our team.

Our Electrical, Instrument and Telecom (EIT) department in Fornebu consists of 90 highly qualified professionals that are looking forward to discussing the technical topics and exciting challenges with you. There are 6 colleagues that work directly with integrated operations. They will be your sparring partners and support if you need guidance along the way. Our team is working with oil and gas as well as renewables and low-carbon projects. Are you getting more interested? Let`s hear more about the tasks!

What will you be doing?

As an Integrated Operations Specialist Engineer, you will be a key member of a technical group specialized in IO solutions that works with condition monitoring, other aspects of remote monitoring, and ICT data exchange design. The destination systems and applications will use digital and cloud solutions to achieve the field of future targets. As part of our small, dynamic team working on this area of design, your typical tasks will be:
  • Defining condition monitoring solutions (instrumentation and monitoring systems) in close alignment with the maintenance team
  • Establishing project-specific ICT documents and specifications
  • Establishing and documenting monitoring requirements with the client at equipment level
  • Following-up implementation of supplier solutions in projects
  • Ensuring sufficient instrumentation for condition- and performance monitoring
  • Ensuring sufficient expert computer systems to analyze data collected and present this on HMI
  • Collecting data from automation-, instrumentation-, and other expert systems by using industrial protocols (Modbus TCP, OPC Classic, OPC UA, etc.)
  • Creating a solution which enables data exchange on industrial protocols between systems in a safe, secure, and efficient manner
  • Adhering to the overall Cyber security requirements in the ICT design

We think you should have:
  • Bachelor`s or Master`s degree in computer science, information security/technology, cybernetics, or other similar relevant areas
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience from oil and gas project execution with multidiscipline understanding
  • Preferably experience with offshore automation systems and knowledge of offshore maintenance
  • Excellent communication skills in English
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong motivation to take initiatives and responsibility
  • Open and eager personality with an inner drive to explore new solutions

More reasons to work with us:
  • Professional development and excellent career opportunities with the chance to work on a wide variety of projects ranging from oil and gas, renewables (carbon capture, hydrogen, and offshore wind) to aquaculture
  • A healthy work-life balance with flexible working conditions throughout the different phases of your life journey
  • Competitive pay and benefits with excellent pension and insurance schemes as well as private health services provided by Aker Care
  • Access to welfare club with free gym facilities, sports equipment hire and cabins for rent in the mountains and by the sea
  • Possibility to work remotely/from home 1-3 days per week
