The position requires a high-energy proactive individual who is self-motivated, works independently as well as in teams, and has demonstrated the ability to juggle multiple-task and use independent judgment within the scope of their responsibility. The individual should be able to handle confidential information and establish a positive and professional working relationship with and communications among team members, business leaders and other staff members.
Responsibilities:
• Creating material and service purchase orders
• Conducting Request for Quotes (RFQs)
• Making vendor selections
• Expediting orders
• Providing invoice support
• Coordinating logistics is of utmost importance, vessel voyages vary therefore close coordination with vessel leadership is key to ensure on time ship deliveries. This requires effective planning, control and implementation of the movement and storage of related goods for vessel delivery.
• Create a close working relationship with vessel leadership including vessel Captain and Chief Engineer along with the shoreside Engineering and Marine Superintendents.
Required Qualifications/Skills:
• Bachelor degree or equivalent
• 3+ year’s experience using Purchasing systems creating purchase orders, expediting orders, and assist business unit with resolving invoice issues
• Experience in RFQ execution and evaluation, supplier selection, negotiation, award, and expediting activities. In-depth knowledge of purchasing policy and procedures.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a multidiscipline environment.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a multi-discipline, multi-cultural, global environment.
• Understanding of procurement operations, supplier management, and basic inventory management.
• General understanding of logistics and working with freight forwarders and global port agents is a plus.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, purchasing systems and SAP is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications/Skills:
• Hands-on experience with logistics, international and inland freight, warehousing, supply chain flows for materials (one or more of these)
• Knowledge and experience of Maximo Purchasing or similar tool preferred.
• Marine industry experience
