SR. SUPV. MATERIALS HANDLING AND DAY CREW – SMELTER PROJECT
(National - Site Based)
Some of your duties will include:
  • To supervise efficient handling of the copper concentrates and other bulk materials received from the Mines, external suppliers, and internal recycle streams at the Material Handling Plant through overall management of the Material Handling Plant operations team and the Day Gang.
  • To manage the stockpiles of bulk materials appropriately and in conjunction with short-term and long-term planning in conjunction with the Technical team
  • To allocate daily and weekly targets and instructions for the operations team and the Day Gang, adjusting their tasks and workload as required and manage additional contractor labour as required.  
  • To embed a culture of quality, safety and sustainability across the material handling plant through implementation of all Standard Operating Processes, optimum utilisation of resources and compliance with relevant statutory, safety, health, environment norms.
  • To drive performance and continuous training of the team deployed across the material handling operation.
What skills and experience do you need?
  • Graduate Engineer in Chemical/ Metallurgy/ Process Engineering 
  • 8+ years in smelter operations or other large bulk material handling application, coal mines and/or gold mines.
  • Domain knowledge of materials handling in process plants
  • Leadership and supervisory skills
  • Domain knowledge of smelting and blending
  • Understanding of maintenance practices
  • Understanding of quality systems and process control tools
