We are currently recruiting a Mechanical Supervisor (Fabrication Background) for an Oil & Gas operator to support the Fabrication Site Superintendent in coordinating Ph2b mechanical and piping scope of work at their site in Darwin on an initial 12-month contract.

Key duties:
  • Assist Fabrication Superintendent with fabrication and testing preparation and coordinate field activities as directed by Site Superintendent.
  • Ensure all required documentation is in place prior any pressure testing activities; to include ITRs, Construction Completion, etc.
  • Witness/supervise testing activities as advised by Site Superintendent.
  • To ensure that all small and large bore piping fabrication and pressure testing is carried out in a timely manner by the contractor, whilst ensuring all relevant specifications and procedures are adhered to. 
  • Coordinate mechanical and piping activities with contractor.
  • Strong knowledge of pipe fabrication and installation, pneumatic and hydrostatic pressure testing, and mechanical completion.
  • Ability to lead / coordinate and organize multiple piping crews.
  • Monitor daily progress and report to Site Superintendent.
  • Liaise with other trade supervisors and coordinate simultaneous operations (SIMOPS).
  • Maintain cooperative relationship with contractor personnel.
Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Technical Diploma.
  • Minimum 15 years Fabrication / Shipyard experience in a supervisory capacity.
  • Strong welding and inspection background with CSWIP 3.2.
  • Must be able to work with integrity and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative as well as form part of a dynamic and effective team.
  • Flexible and adaptable to the varied tasks.
  • Strong team working skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and high attention to detail.
  • Well-developed organisational skills.
  • Advanced PC Skills. Ability to utilise a range of software packages, including MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), SAP, Outlook, PIMS and iCaps.
  • Excellent time management and prioritising skills.
