NES Fircroft is working with a major Oil and Gas operations company, who are looking to add a Telecoms Technician to their offshore team.

This is an opportunity for a highly motivated individual to work offshore assisting in the delivery of Telecomms support across the Southern North Sea Asset. This position operates on a shift rotation of 2 weeks on 2 weeks off, 12 hours shifts, reporting to the Telecomms Team Leader  

Key Responsibilities Include:
• Maintaining a broad spectrum of offshore Telecommunications systems including but not limited to
o Line of Sight Microwave Radio
o PAGA Systems
o IP based networks
o Multiplexers
o Marine & Airband VHF Radios (Fixed and Portable)
o Maintenance of Atex certified equipment (COMPEX Certified)
o Fibre Optic systems
o Weather monitoring systems
o Satellite Technology
o Entertainment systems
o Knowledge of Process Control Systems
o Experience in GOC/MOC processes and be able to take ownership of project works, from initial design through to install and commissioning
• Carry out trade scheduled maintenance
• Carry out and manage Telecoms Projects
• Ability to supervise vendors and 3rd Party contractors
• Understanding of Performance standards & Safety Cases
• Understanding of permit to work and Maximo maintenance management systems
• Carry out EX inspections in line with procedures
• Repair equipment and systems while maintaining its integrity
• Carry out fault finding functions with the ability to work independently and under pressure
• Producing reports and recommendations as appropriate
• Work within a team of multi-skilled technicians to safely maintain the platforms within the operational and maintenance procedures
• Produce handovers to colleagues and contribute to the weekly reports

Safety & Environmentally Critical Tasks:
There are a number of Safety Critical Tasks that you will be made aware of and systems you will be required to competently operate.

Experience / Qualifications:
• A minimum of 2 years Offshore Experience with current valid offshore certification and
medical
• An understanding of radio principles, propagation, multiplexing and general digital techniques. Ideally the applicant will be expected to have experience and background knowledge in microwave radio, fibre optics, multiplexers, satellite comms, marine/aero VHF, public address systems, telephone exchanges, IP networking, IT Equipment, ATEX requirements, UK Offshore Working Requirements.
• Preferred SUEPEE or COMPEX qualifications
