Description:
Our client is a major North American energy company based in Calgary, Alberta - Canada, that develops and operates natural gas pipelines, storage facilities and power-generation plants, with focus on renewable energy sources.
Responsibilities:
- Forecast project completion costs based on trends and basic EVM methods, including productivity, labor rate analysis, work budget, approved changes, progress.
- Maintain project forecast and cost flow in PIMS and SAP
- Review and analyze committed, incurred, actual, and forecasted costs for each WBS level against approved budget, approved changes, and remaining work.
- Provide guidance to Project Managers and project team on matters relating to project controls, including analysis on value of remaining work, forecast adjustments, budget or commitment availability.
- Maintain the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) as per company standards, and ensure alignment with schedule and work progress.
- Maintain trend logs and supporting data
- Track use of contingency, management reserve, and approved changes to project budget
- Support the Project Manager by reviewing cost estimates
- Collaborate with Project Manager and stakeholders to define construction cost tracking to ensure commitments, schedule requirements, and risk items are accurately represented in the project forecast
- Work with Project Support to ensure requisitions and accruals are correctly captured and issued.
- Perform Closeout of existing projects, including review of labour forecasts, aged commitments, punchlist completion, and SAP system closures.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Post-Secondary degree in a related field, including Finance, Accounting, Business Administration
- An alternative combination of education and experience may be considered
- 3 or more years of related experience
- Working knowledge of project control functions and processes, including cost control, change management, financial, and project accounting processes and systems
- Results oriented with sound problem-solving and analytical skills and an aptitude for attention to detail and accuracy
- Intermediate Microsoft Office experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Project Experience with budgets ranging from $ 50M to $ 200M
- Knowledge of SAP Project Systems, or other cost control systems (PIMS, Ecosys)
- Field-based construction experience on linear infrastructure or facility builds.
- Knowledge of Power BI
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
