Our client is looking to bring on 2 Project Managers to support the Program Manager who oversees day-to-day management of projects from concept through completion. The Project Manager can expect to support projects in the transmission and distribution portfolio which can include high voltage line & substation, battery energy storage, smart grid enablement and telecommunication projects.

Each Project Manager will manage, direct and coordinate all aspects of work related to their respect projects, will report directly to the Program Manager and will be responsible for the profit and loss of individual projects, the successful completion of projects within specified dates, and establishing and maintaining a professional and satisfactory relationship with the Owner, subcontractors, regulatory agencies and other project stakeholders. Each Project Manager will manage, direct and coordinate all aspects of work related to their respect projects, will report directly to the Program Manager and will be responsible for the profit and loss of individual projects, the successful completion of projects within specified dates, and establishing and maintaining a professional and satisfactory relationship with the Owner, subcontractors, regulatory agencies and other project stakeholders. Major responsibilities for the Project Manager will include:
- Prepare proposals, assist in presentations, and participate in contract negotiations;
- Manage and provide leadership to project teams to ensure safe, cost effective and timely completion of transmission/distribution projects
- Provide overall management of projects from concept to completion including siting, environmental, permitting, planning, estimating, engineering, right-of-way acquisition, project controls, bid phase services, procurement, constructability reviews, material management, construction management, and closeout.
- Develop and monitor project schedules, manage scope, and control project costs.
- Serve as primary point of contact with client regarding efforts such as client coordination, strategic planning, master scope management, budget finances, subcontracting, project staffing, environmental compliance, facility support and schedule attainment.
- Manage all aspects of project communication.
- Prepare comprehensive reports and present recommendations to resolve project issues, producing necessary documentation such as the project execution plan.
- Prepare business cases for the execution of transmission/distribution projects, contribute to the development of the regulatory submissions.
- Be responsible for the preparation of turnkey contract specifications and awards and provide necessary direction to service providers.
- Monitor service provider performance, provide redirection as required, and authorize payment.
- Resolve issues through negotiation with the Service Provider and customer.
- Co-ordinate activities with internal service-providers and stakeholders, contractors and customers.
- Work closely with the Project Team to ensure deliverables and services are being provided to client’s satisfaction and that projects are following internal QA/QC guidelines.
- Review, approve, and communicate internal and external reports including project budgeting, project cash flow forecast, and project status reports. Present reports to Program Manager as well as internal and external executive management as required.
- Responsible for facilitating project cost reporting, scheduling, work breakdown structure establishment, project set-up and closeout, and field progress tracking specific to construction and construction related activities or program level activities as required.
- Develop and oversee materials receiving and management process, including inventory control, receipt of goods, storage, and transportation as required.
- Review contract documents with field staff to verify compliance of subcontractors and client contractors, safety and health requirements, quality, and schedule.
- Adhere to company’s safety programs, trainings, and policies, as well as promote and manage the Safety & Health performance of project team members and subcontractors.
- Report regularly on progress, cost and schedule metrics, procurement issues, safety or environmental concerns, design development, potential impacts, and any issues requiring escalation.
- Maintain an awareness of advancing technology developments in transmission/distribution equipment and systems.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited curriculum. Applicable experience may be substituted for degree requirement.
- Minimum of six (6) years of project management experience.
- Professional Engineering (P. Eng) registration preferred.
- Proven ability to develop business and establish relationships with clients.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is an asset.
- Must have ability to deal effectively with a wide variety of industry, government and public contracts on project-related matters.
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills. Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Prior experience with battery energy storage and/or smart grid projects is an asset.
- Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Access).
- Experience with document control, scheduling, cost control and project management software is preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to handle large volumes of work and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.

- Multiple years of experience on construction project sites or executing program management in the industries of aviation, commercial, energy, government, manufacturing, oil & gas, process, transportation, transmission & distribution, or water is preferred.
- A basic understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles is required.
- Must be capable of devising new approaches to problems encountered.
- Ability to influence, lead and manage change thoughtfully and positively.
- Ability to travel. Valid driver's license required. In addition, must meet standards to qualify for and maintain the Company's vehicle driving privileges as outlined in the Company's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy
