Protection (Project Delivery)
Location: Adelaide, South Australia

NES Fircroft is supporting our power and electrical engineering client to recruit across Australia and internationally for experienced protection engineers to join their growing team.
Core Responsibilities
• Prepare preliminary or detailed design, options analysis/risk assessments, scope and specifications of Protection Systems
• Perform engineering design review, compliance and validation including commissioning witnessing of Protection Systems
• Support development and maintenance of Protection System standards including equipment evaluation
Essential/ Mandatory Requirements / Skills
• Knowledge of HV power system protection schemes & principles
• Knowledge of power system fundamentals and fault analysis
• Knowledge of secondary systems circuitry design
• Knowledge of HV plant
• Knowledge of protection system construction and commissioning
• Knowledge of DNP3 and IEC 61850 substation network communication standards
• Knowledge of legislated industry requirements (National Electricity Rules, ESCOSA, AEMO Guidelines, Safety in Design etc.)
• Basic knowledge of Substation Automation System and Substation Infrastructure Engineering
• Ability to produce protection device (IED) settings and configuration files
• Basic knowledge of project delivery, meeting budget and schedule constraints
• Competent written and verbal communication skills; good interpersonal skills
• Competent analytical, investigation and problem-solving skills
Desirable / Transferable Skills
• Minimum 5 years’ experience, in Protection related role
• Electricity Industry background an advantage
