Purchasing Manager

We are currently recruiting a Purchasing Manager for one of our global Healthcare Manufacturing clients. With over 110,000 employees in 150 countries this is a great opportunity for an experienced Purchasing Manager to join one of the world’s largest Healthcare Manufacturers with science and innovation at its core.

The main role of the Purchasing Manager will be the supervision of all staff in the Purchasing groups with additional managerial responsibilities in the following areas:
  • Monitoring and controlling all purchasing activities
  • Maintaining accurate inventory transactions
  • Establishing good relationships with 3rd Party Vendors and Suppliers
  • Monitoring and controlling inventories of purchased materials ensuring achievement of plant inventory level and proper stock rotation.
  • Negotiating with existing suppliers and identifying alternative vendors based around cost savings and/or opportunities to improve business performance.
  • Maintaining close liaison and co-operation with all other departments who are associated with the materials/production operation on site in order to optimize the plant’s operations.
  • Liaising with internal departments to ensure that raw materials and packaging are tested and released within agreed time scale.
  • Completing Goal Setting, performance appraisals and development plans for direct reports.
  • Ensuring P.O’s are issued on a timely basis to suppliers and that all suppliers deliver goods in accordance with the company’s terms and conditions and that goods are received and dispatched in line with company QA policies and procedures.
Person Specification 
Suitable candidates for the Purchasing Manager role will be educated to degree level or equivalent and have at least 5 years demonstrable Management / Supervisory experience in a Purchasing or Planning in a manufacturing environment, ideally in a highly regulated environment.

A high level of expertise in solving scheduling, logistics and purchasing issues is required as is the ability to articulate, negotiate and present to senior stakeholders within the business as well as external suppliers and prospective new vendors.
