Our Client, a leading drilling and engineering company, requires an Onshore QA/QC Superintendent to join the team on a permanent staff basis.
1 Job Purpose
To oversee the implementation and compliance with the ISO requirements and the HSSE, operational and BE worldwide standards. To provide support on quality management to the Offshore Business Unit, RDS projects and contracts and UK Operations.
2 Dimensions
Oversee and mentor functional personnel in offshore and country teams and with respect to business excellence and quality management.
Areas of Responsibility – Offshore Business Unit and RDS Projects, UK Operations and Offices
3 Principle Accountabilities
Safety
• Familiarise themselves with the clients’ Health & Safety Policy and take all reasonable care to ensure the health and safety of themselves and persons likely to be affected by their acts or omissions, as required under the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974.
• Ensure that the clients’ Health & Safety Policy is fully implemented and adhered to by all persons under their authority.
• Contribute where appropriate to the implementation of the annual HSSE Plans and the achievement of the stated objectives and targets.
• Contribute where appropriate to the UK/RDS safety meetings.
Financial
• Contributing to delivering the Offshore Division/RDS budget
• Liaise with Line Manager in formulating annual budgets and exercise financial controls in use of expenditure
Business Development
• Periodically assist in preparing quality management material for bid submissions
• Undertake project / contract assignments as directed including attendance of project meetings
• Participate in competency assessments, performance evaluations and identify longer term career potential and training development of departmental staff
Departmental Development
• Assist development of interface co-ordination between engineering, procurement and QA/QC.
Systems and Processes
• Contribute to establishing efficient working practices for the Offshore Division.
People
• Demonstrate high standards of ethical behaviour and integrity
• Provide opportunities for personnel; motivating and encouraging development
Quality
• Ensure compliance to all relevant Company management systems and where applicable client procedures
• As per key tasks in line with ISO 9001
• Support the implementation, maintenance and continual improvement of the management system
• Promote awareness, understanding and use of the KOMS within assigned projects
• Provide quality management input to supplier evaluation and selection, including: pre-qualification assessments, tender evaluation, quality appraisals
• Ensure that project teams and quality focal points are trained and developed in quality management
4 Planning & Organising
• Ensure that the appropriate project / contract management systems are established and documented by the project teams and quality plans are maintained up-to-date
• Develop and maintain project / contract specific procedures and associated documentation, as required
• Perform internal and external project / contract / country audits, as identified or directed, ensuring the timely completion of actions arising from audit findings, customer complaints and other sources, as recorded within corporate action tracking system
• Review engineering deliverables and participate in equipment criticality assessments
• Review supplier documentation including quality plans, inspection and test plans, inspection and test procedures, and manufacturing records
• Review and verify product certification and identification complied with governing legislation. Undertake inspection assignments when appropriate and deemed competent
• Produce reports on project / contract quality performance and perform investigations of quality management failure
• Coordinate and support certification requirements where required
5 Internal & External Relationships
• Liaise with client’s quality assurance personnel and appointed verification body
• Ensure project teams coordinate inspection activities on subcontracted work, procured equipment and materials, including arranging of third-party inspectors depending upon competency requirements
• Confirm all project / contract personnel are aware of the requirements of the project quality plan and implement accordingly
• Making presentations to clients and prospective clients
• Work with Business Excellence to improve and develop the clients’ quality management processes and procedures
6 Most Challenging Aspects of the Job
• Review and verify product certification and identification complied with governing legislation. Undertake inspection assignments when appropriate and deemed competent
• Ensure project teams coordinate inspection activities on subcontracted work, procured equipment and materials, including arranging of third party inspectors depending upon competency requirements
• Contribute to establishing efficient working practices for the Offshore Division, RDS and UK Operations.

• Review & coordinate SDRL’s as appropriate between Suppliers

7 Skills/Qualifications & Experience
• >5 years experience in Quality Management role
• >5 years experience and knowledge gained in Continuous Improvement
• Experienced auditor – Certification required
• Preferable Degree in Engineering or quality-related discipline.
• Evidence of CPD
• Preferable membership of a QA institution
