My client is a large oil and gas company, that is looking for a Safety Specialist in Rodeo, California. 

Contract- 12 months
Shift - 8 hours (40 hours a week)
Location - Rodeo, CA

Description:
• 3 or more years of Health and Safety experience
• 3 or more years of Refinery or similar industrial experience
• Strong working knowledge of and the ability to read, comprehend, and interpret (in English) Federal and State Regulations regarding Health, Safety and Emergency Response matters
• Possess a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC).
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license


Willing and able to perform/comply, with or without a reasonable accommodation, with the following:
o Work overtime, including holidays and weekends
o Lift up to 50 pounds
o Work in enclosed spaces, such as confined spaces
o Work around chemicals including acids/bases
o Work with petroleum products that are under high pressure and heat
o Work near large, hot, high-speed machines
o Climb up to 200 feet in height; work at elevated heights
o Wear FRC’s and other personal protective equipment (such as safety-toed boots, ear/eye protection, hard hat, etc.)
o Work indoors/outdoors in inclement weather conditions
o Must satisfy the physical requirements of the position which includes, but may not be limited to, the ability to lift, climb, walk, kneel, and squat on a regular basis

• Providing HSE regulatory and internal policy/program/process reviews, statistical analysis and interpretations.
• Providing HSE oversight to refinery workforce related to Confined Space Entry, Hot Work, Safe Work Practices, and all other related Health, Safety, Environmental, or Industrial Hygiene matters.
• Implementing and deliver general and specialized training presentations, materials and testing for regulatory required and topic-specific training
• Working with the Process and Project Engineering groups in support of HSE related projects for fire protection infrastructure, capital projects, etc.
• Issuing Hot Work Plans, Hot Work Permits, Confined Space Entry Rescue Pre-Plans, and approving Confined Space Packages and Permits.
• Auditing/inspecting daily work activities, provide coaching in the field as needed.
• Provide Turnaround support as needed, including operational support and coaching.
• Performing Safety Audits and Planned General Inspections.
• Conducting/participating in safety meetings.
• Assisting with management of Contractor Safety programs, including leading training sessions
• Other tasks/projects, as assigned
