NES Fircroft are working alongside a world leader in metallurgical plant solutions and a full-line supplier who are looking to add a Sales Manager to their Sheffield Office. This role is available on a permanent basis.
This position is a Monday-Friday opportunity with potential for work from home.
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
As Sales Manager for the Downstream business you will identify sales opportunities and follow up leads to fulfil a pre-sales / marketing role generating enquires for Plate and Aluminum products. Developing relationships which lead to project prospects in the future and identify suitable bidding opportunities.
Leading the process as Bid Project Manager for sales projects allocated to you, propose the bid strategy and manage the end to end process. This includes sales and proposals, negotiating with the customer to meet GBU targets. (Order Intake, Contribution Margin and EBIT)
Bringing strong leadership capabilities and market awareness, you will demonstrate excellent communication at all levels, providing market intelligence and marketing materials for those projects that you are involved with.
As the key contact with our international clients as well as for all functional areas of the business internally, you will have enthusiasm, be customer focused, results oriented and have a positive and solution-oriented attitude.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY / TASKS
This role is expected to travel frequently, often at short notice, on short and medium term visits, totalling up to 6 months annually. There is also a requirement to work to meet the customer deadlines outside of the core hours as necessary.
The post holder must have current UK Driving Licence, as well as the right to live and work in the UK and travel internationally without restrictions

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY / TASKS
- Sales Delivery
- Propose, plan and implement the sales strategy for the Downstream business in coordination with the Head of Sales.
- You will evaluate enquires, assess sales opportunities, define the bid strategy and take responsibility for the bid budget.
- Liaising with the Regional CSC and Sales Teams, you will negotiate and win contracts with the support of proposal services and the Legal team.
- Customer Management
- Acts as the focal point of contact with the customer, develops the customer relationship, making regular visits in accordance with the visit plan.
- Maintains customer confidence and satisfaction, manages the customer contract and identifies and develops potential new business opportunities, identifying key decision makers and customer investment plans.
- Provide customer with budget price estimates and fixed price offers.
- Leadership
- Leads the bid project team (up to 20 people) and manage all stakeholders, communicating the contract requirements, to ensure consistent and focused efforts in line with the Sales Strategy.
- Establish and coordinate local teams dedicated to the Downstream business and provide clear direction.
- Risk Management
- Identifies and assesses all risk factors. Devises suitable strategies for mitigation and regularly reviews the status of risks.
- Ensure proper handover from Sales to Project Management after acquisition to mitigate all risks during project execution (possible claims, non-conformance costs etc)
- Commercial
- Plan, lead and manage the bid process in compliance with company procedures and within approved limits of authority (LOA).
- Manage the bid budget in order to contract the overall sales budget.
- Understand and work towards company requirements to ensure you protect the reputation and legal position throughout.
- Internal Stakeholders
- Liaise with Lead Engineers / Product Owners and other business units, including Met Services, to inform about new requirements from the market, client needs and response of the competition to those requirements.
- Coach and develop other members of the Sales team to provide support as needed to help them to develop their knowledge and skills.
- Liaise with Marketing/Communications to ensure the production of effective publicity materials.
- Commercial awareness of key legal and contractual issues
- Sales / target orientated with a good understanding of the metals industry, market, customers, end users, products and applications.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation and presentational skills.
- Strong customer focus with understanding of the customers technical and commercial requirements.
- Self-manage, and motivate under pressure and changing circumstances.
- Lead and motivate a multi-cultural team to achieve performance across various Sales projects.
- Strategic awareness of suitable low-cost engineering and manufacturing facilities.
