This well-established organisation is taking the next step in their growth aspirations and are looking for a Chartered Civil Engineer to head up the civil and structural engineering part of their business. They are innovative and have a real passion for what they do and are looking for a similar person to join them in this senior position which would include profit shares within this engineering division of their business.

This role is based in New Plymouth which provides a fantastic outdoor lifestyle with a picture-perfect mountain, as well as beautiful beaches and a great café lifestyle.

In this senior role you would be involved with developing and implementing engineering strategies and procedures that align with the company's overall business objectives.

You will be overseeing the planning, execution, pricing and completion of engineering projects, ensuring they are on schedule. This will include setting standards for quality with the wider company management team and troubleshooting technical engineering problems arising.

As the team builds you will be responsible for the supervision of engineering staff.

As a key position in the organisation, your ability to deal with pressure, and your high-level of problem solving, communication and leadership skills are all major competencies required in this role.  You must have the ability to interact successfully with both internal and external parties at all levels to ensure projects are collaboratively delivered to client expectations.

As well as assisting in the management, growth and leadership of the engineering team your day-to-day responsibilities would include:
  • Engineering design across residential, industrial & commercial projects
  • Producing calculations, modelling, drawings, and reports
  • Site inspections, contractor queries, and construction monitoring
  • Working closely with local authorities, architects, planners, surveyors and clients.
  • Contributing to project planning and problem-solving in a small, agile team

Key critical requirements:
  • You will be CPEng Certified to allow for professional sign off on projects.
  • You will have at least 5 + years of civil and structural experience.  
  • You need to be proficient with civil/structural engineering disciplines but importantly you need to be able to take a practical approach to your work
  • Solid understanding of NZ design and engineering standards
  • Actual hands-on design and delivery experience
  • You will have excellent report writing skills
  • You must be a great communicator and able to self-direct and be aspirational
