About the Unit

The Yara Technology and Projects (YTP) business unit develops new technologies and executes projects to meet Yara’s ambitions on Growing a Nature-Positive Food Future. YTP Projects department consists about 120 employees. This department manages, coordinates and executes Large- and Medium-scale technical projects and develops Yara’s existing production units globally. We work in close collaboration with our key stakeholders such as Yara Clean Ammonia, Yara’s Regional organizations and External partners. Together we are building a more sustainable future for Yara and the World. The YTP Projects Engineering department comprises all technical disciplines and it supports YTP Projects in carrying out technical studies and project activities like monitoring and guiding contractors and suppliers in their engineering activities. The YTP Projects Engineering department is currently seeking a (Senior) Electrical Engineer to further develop the Engineering department to continuously improve YTP’s project delivery. The (Senior) Electrical Engineer will lead and take care of coordinating all engineering activities during all Project phases with internal / external stakeholders, from feasibility study till takeover by operations.

Responsibilities The (Senior) Electrical Engineer will be accountable for a technically sound concept, detail design and construction of different North-America based projects within the YTP portfolio.

  • Be the electrical design authority within the project and ensure compliance to Yara’s internal specifications
  • Leading the power distribution system design and the preparation of specifications for procurement of major electric power equipment and related installations.
  • Coordination of electrical competence related activities within the project team, in close collaboration with the engineering manager. From feasibility until execution (incl. construction on site).
  • Interacting with other disciplines (process, static equipment, rotating machines, civil, etc.) for the successful project delivery.
  • Overseeing compliance to national & international standards and regulations pertaining to the electrical discipline.
  • Interact with clients (plants) to understand technical requirements, constraints, negotiate specifications, design reviews.
  • Interact with vendors & EPC contractors to understand technical offers, follow up the engineering design process, review technical documentation, etc.
  • Interacting with distribution and or transmission system operators to understand grid interconnection process, requirements & technical constraints.
Profile
  • M.Sc (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering - with 5 to 10 years of experience preferably in a project environment.
  • A strong theoretical knowledge in power systems engineering and understanding of shortcircuits, grounding, harmonics, relaying & control, etc.
  • Knowledge in major electrical equipment such as switchgear, transformers, electrical motors, cables, busbars, variable frequency drives, etc.
  • Knowledge of local codes (NEC) & standards applicable in north-America (ANSI, IEEE, UL) Experience in project engineering environment and construction of electrical installations. Power system simulation software experience such as ETAP is a plus.
  • Knowledge in power electronics & large current rectifiers is a plus.
  • Proactive & technically curious.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.

The (Senior) Electrical Engineer reports to the Competence Lead Electrical and the position will be based in the USA.
