We are currently recruiting a Senior HSE Advisor for a Global Oil & Gas operator on an initial contract until 31/12/23 to provide leadership, advice, and support to the organization on effective systems, processes, and procedures to effectively manage health and safety.
Occupational Health and Safety
• Conduct all activities in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures. At all times, ensure the welfare of personnel and the protection of our assets and the environment.
• Assist to ensure all HSE systems, processes and tools are implemented consistently and effectively, including assisting, and managing HSE Contracts, updating documentation, reporting, capturing lessons to improve effectiveness, analysis and required close out of actions from investigations, audits and other findings.
• Analyze trends to ensure programs developed and implemented are targeting the appropriate risk areas.
• Identify and rectify gaps in the HSE programs and processes.
Leadership
• Provide senior advice to the HSE Support team, the wider HSE team and the organization
• Collaborate with the Support and Operations Team Leads to ensure systems are functional and efficient to support operational activities
• Work with other functions of the business to ensure HSE systems are complimentary to the business needs and that HSE issues are resolved
• Provide advice and mentoring to HSE Advisors
• Coach personnel in the application of industry best practice initiatives and clients specific HSE systems and processes.
• Provide visible presence and personal reinforcement of HSE MS goals, targets, and objectives, including conducting site visits, challenging HSE performance and encouraging appropriate prioritization in decision making.
• Lead by setting a good example by behaving in accordance with the clients’ values to engage the team to achieve goals.
Compliance
• Ensure familiarity of project, drilling and operations HSE performance, challenges and issues, and HSE Policies, Standards and Procedures are complied with.
• Assist with the effective communication of systems to site level including process, reporting requirements and analysis.
• Lead incident investigations and audits as required.
• Ensure staff and contractors are aware of the HSE requirements of the management systems.
• Assist with the management of contracts and HSE’s roles within the contractor management process.
Planning
• Participate in the development and implementation of the HSE Activity Plan that supports the business needs for HSE.
• Collaborate with other areas of the business to ensure the HSE Activity Plan compliments the business needs.
• Develop and manage project plans for the delivery of HSE programs and projects.
• Identify and execute efficiency opportunities for HSE systems, reporting and Occupational Health and Hygiene requirements.
Financial Management
• Assist in the development and management of the HSE budget.
• Identify opportunities for reduction in spend or optimizing the HSE spend to maximise effectiveness and efficiency.
• Manage HSE contractors and vendors where applicable.
Risk Management
• Identify opportunities for improved reporting and analysis of HSE hazards and risks to ensure the focus of the organisations risk mitigation strategies have the appropriate focus.
• Ensure familiarity of HSE Risk Management Process and provide advice to the organization on compliance to the process and governance that the process is being followed.
Qualifications
• Degree in relevant HSE Discipline(s).
• Degree or similar in alternate disciplines such as Engineering, Communication of Computer Science desirable.
Skills and Experience Required
• 5+ Yrs experience in the Oil & Gas Industry, construction or mining
• Working at a senior HSE level within an operating environment on a major Oil & Gas development
• Strong interpersonal skills in influencing and teamwork, adaptable and troubleshooter
• Good understanding of Australia’s HSE legal framework, particularly related to Oil and Gas operations
