We are currently recruiting a Senior Petrophysicist to join a Global Oil & Gas operator on an initial 12 month contract in Perth CBD.
Primary Objective:
To create and submit to government all basic and final well completion reports (WCR), coordinate rock and fluid sample storage at Core Laboratories, and coordinate the submission of physical samples and associated analytical data and reports to the relevant government agency. The incumbent will ensure that these submissions meet the deadlines and fulfill the requirements legislated by the relevant government agency. They will also ensure the records of submissions are clearly documented by means of approved transmittal forms, and copies of any digital data sent to government are registered with the Subsurface Data Management team for archiving.
Primary Responsibilities:
•Conduct all activities in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures. At all times, ensure the welfare of personnel and the protection of our assets and the environment.
•Compile and submit all interim, initial basic and final well completion reports (WCRs) to the relevant government agencies ensuring the contents and format of all components and transmittal forms fulfill the requirements stipulated in the Offshore Petroleum and Greenhouse Gas Storage Act 2006 and the Offshore Petroleum and Greenhouse Gas Storage Regulations 2011, or any more recent legislation which replaces these.
•Manage the Petrophysiscal quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) of all third-party service provider logs, data and reporting for Surface Data Logging (Mudlogging), Measurement While Drilling & Logging While Drilling (MWD/LWD) and Electric Wireline Logging.
•Manage Core Laboratories and staff to ensure all physical samples generated in the process of drilling the well or which are created as part of an analytical program are submitted to the relevant government agency by the deadline specified in the above legislation and following the best practices established in the NOPDCR Commonwealth Offshore Petroleum Sample Submission Standards.
•Ensure all studies involving export of physical samples overseas obtain permission to export from the relevant government agency.
•Submit all WCRs, physical samples, and associated basic initial and interpretive analytical reports and data to the relevant government agency in the correct format together with the correct transmittal form by the deadline(s) stipulated in the above legislation.
•Where an extension to the submission deadline is necessary, or if there is a valid reason not to submit certain data, reports or physical samples specified in the above legislation, ensure a variation to submission requirements is obtained from the relevant government agency prior to the submission deadline.
Compliance:
•Ensure all studies involving analysis of public domain rock and fluid samples obtain approval from the relevant government agency to sample and if necessary, export these samples overseas.
•For these studies, maintain an up-to-date record of the requestor, the sampling and export approval numbers and dates, and the submission deadline(s) for physical samples, residues, data and reports.
•Ensure the relevant person in charge of the analysis is aware of the submission date stipulated in the approval to sample or export document. Ensure that an extension to the submission deadline is obtained from the relevant government agency prior to any component being overdue.
•Coordinate the submission of physical samples, residues, data and reports resulting from these analyses to the relevant government agency/agencies, complying with the agreed sampling and export terms of conditions, including deadlines, sample and residue labelling and packaging, data and reporting format, and transmittal format.
Supervision:
•Supervise and manage the submission of all physical or fluid samples which are forwarded to the companies office by a third party to the intended recipient, ensuring the samples are adequately packaged and couriered, and the chain of custody is clearly documented by transmittal forms.
Strategic Planning:
•Forecast annual storage costs by permit for all owned rock and fluid samples at Core Laboratories, Perth.
•Raise purchase orders for each permit to cover the costs of physical sample storage at Core Laboratories, Perth, by the end of February of each year.
•Manage receipts pertaining to sample storage from Core Laboratories, Perth, against sample inventories sent monthly by the company.
•Raise any additional purchase order to cover the costs of storage at Core Laboratories, Perth, for any permit if it appears that the cost for that permit will exceed the purchase order currently in place.
Skills and Experience Required:
Tertiary degree in geoscience or engineering
•Minimum 15 years working experience for an oil and gas Operator.
•Working knowledge of the Offshore Petroleum and Greenhouse Gas Storage Act 2006 and the Offshore Petroleum and Greenhouse Gas Storage Regulations 2011.
•Good understanding of well completion reporting and the various types of oil and gas well data.
•Strong background in Log analysis and
•Well-developed skills in data management.
•Competent user of Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.
•Experience in using Emerson’s Geolog software.
