Job Summary:
In this role you will be responsible for providing technical support and assistance to current and new clients. Our systems are designed to control and monitor critical processes and ensure the safety of workers and the environment. The field service engineer will travel to customer sites to install, commission, and maintain the systems, and provide training and guidance to customers on how to properly use and maintain the equipment. They will also work with the internal sales and engineering teams to provide feedback on product performance and suggest improvements or modifications to the safety systems. The field service engineer plays a critical role in ensuring that the safety systems are properly installed, configured, and maintained to protect workers and prevent accidents. This position requires a goal-oriented self-starter who can work with minimal direction in a team environment. Requires solid attention to detail, a willingness to learn and develop their skills within the engineering team.

Primary Job Function:
- Site Acceptance Test and Commissioning of the customer’s Safety System.
- Some travel interstates to troubleshoot Safety Programmable System.
- Complete I/O checks and troubleshoot wiring of the Safety system.
- Understand the principles of measuring levels, pressures, temperatures, and flow.
- Consulting manuals, reading, and interpreting circuit diagrams, schematics, and P&ID’s understanding.
- Liaise with clients and involvement in technical discussion meetings.
- Assisting design team in design documentation and review process.
- Conduct all activities in accordance with the HIMA Operational & Quality Management
- System to provide a safe and environmentally sound working environment to all personnel, visitors and customers and identify, report, and manage hazards as required.
- Safety PLC programming and modifications based on IEC61131 standards, integration with third party systems and perform factory acceptance testing of system hardware / software with clients.
- Design of system hardware including cabinets, power distribution, marshalling, configuration,
- I/O database configuration, power calculations and CAD documents.
- Provide customer training as needed
Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Instrument & Control, Electronic, Electrical Engineering/Technology desirable.
- Prior training or experience (e.g. military electronics training) may be credited toward the education requirement at the discretion of HIMA. Additionally, 5 - 10 years of experience in approved field (IE Safety PLC) is required.
- Knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers, Electrical design concepts, Understanding of IEC and National standards.
- Thorough understanding of electrical design concepts.
- Thorough understanding of Windows based software products to include Excel, Outlook, Word, and Project.
- CAD knowledge is a plus.
- Strong oral and written communication abilities.
- Solid analytical and technical skills.
- Excellent human relations abilities
Other Criteria:
- Must be willing to travel to project sites to collect field data
- Must be willing to travel to project sites to perform field inspections
- May be required to be out of town for multiple days at a time.
- Complies with internal policies and procedures
- Complies with internal Drug & Alcohol Policy maintaining favorable drug testing results throughout employment
- Performs job safely with respect to others, property and individual safety
