Aker Solutions in Oslo are now looking for Structural Engineers and Structural Designers to strengthen their team.

 

Responsibilities and tasks:

  • Structural engineer
    • Perform structural analyses of topside modules
    • Perform global and local analyses, and hand calculations
    • Prepare input to 3D modelling and 2D drawings
    • Prepare and issue reports documenting structural analyses
    • Perform checks of structural analyses and documentation
    • Verify 2D/3D according to input provided, and cooperate within and outside the structural discipline
    • Provide technical assistance on specification and follow-up of structural procurement packages
    • Assist other disciplines with the evaluation of the structural content on other procurement packages
  • Structural designer
    • Using E3D/PDMS, modeling and drawing production of main structures, secondary structures and outfitting structures such as pipe racks, access platforms, equipment supports etc.
Required skills and experience:

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in structural engineering or relevant field
  • At least 5 years’ work experience as a structural engineer/designer within relevant industries like oil & gas/energy, marine etc.
  • Good skills in hand calculations and analysis tools such as Sesam Genie or STAAD
  • Ability to evaluate and check the adequacy of the design of a structure provided by a supplier
  • Knowledge of relevant structural codes and standards (e.g. NORSOK & DNV offshore codes)
  • Experience of transport analysis and lifting equipment calculations (particularly for offshore lifts)
  • Good communication skills are needed as you will have to interface continuously with other disciplines and vendors
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
