Our client a Global Oil and Gas Organization in Perth CBD are currently seeking Subcontract Engineer to join them for a 12-month contract.
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Assist Contract Managers and Procurement Department in project sub-contract management activities:
  • Provide all necessary reports regarding sub-contract management matter to the corporate and project(s) management;
  • Actively contribute to the project change management process: identification, evaluation, negotiation and closure of change orders / variations / claims from to sub-contractors;
  • Responsible for contractual documentation filing and related administrative tasks (MoM; Weekly and Monthly Reports…) and attendance to meetings with sub-contractors;
  • Actively contribute to the management of subcontracts / purchase orders:
Subcontracts pre-award activities:
  • Ensure that all project specific contracts for goods, services or subcontracts are drafted incorporating applicable contractual obligations (e.g. flow-down of main contract obligations) and assisting Contract Manager(s) and Project Manager(s) in identifying critical packages (subcontractors and vendors) requiring special monitoring of contract risks;
  • Liaise with all relevant Project departments, ensuring Project documentation and requirements are incorporated within subcontracts/purchase orders.
Sub-contracts post-award activities:
  • Develop and maintain registers for all subcontracts to monitor the performance against the responsibilities undertaken as per the subcontracts;
  • Instruct subcontractors/vendors on applicable subcontract management administration procedures;
  • Assist Project Control department in reviewing and validating payment claims submitted by subcontractors;
  • Ensure that extra works, new unit prices, claims, back charges, liquidated damages and close out of subcontracts are performed / processed in accordance with relevant applicable procedures;
  • Ensure that letters and notices from subcontractors are appropriately replied to;
  • Ensure all letters, instructions and notices given to subcontractors are acknowledged and acted
Key Skills and Experience Required:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Law, Commerce or Construction Management, with circa 3-5 years relevant experience in a commercial and sub-contract management role within project/construction industry, ideally Oil and Gas.
  • Experience in claims management, and various contracting and procurement models.
  • Experience in contract and subcontract administration / quantity surveying
  • Able to work and strive in a team environment;
  • Adapts well to change and fast-paced projects;
  • Good communicator in dealing with clients and sub-contractors
