NES Fircroft is delighted to be partnering with a major Chemical Manufacturing plant looking to add a TAR Fabrication (Piping) Lead to their Hull based facility. Long-term (12+ months), contract opportunity , open to limited companies.
The TAR Fabrication Lead will be an important member of the team during the Preparation and Execution Phases of the Turnaround projects on site.

The TAR Fabrication Lead will be an important member of the team during the Preparation and Execution Phases of the Turnaround projects on site.
Preparation Phase:
- Complete pre-task site inspections
- Ensure all Site Safety Standards and Technical requirements are fulfilled.
- Liaise with workshop fabrication manager, inspection and asset Engineers.
- Identify and plan fabrication defects.
- Draft as built drawings for internal approval for fabrication using original design and line specifications.
- Compile Job Technical Data sheets (JTD’s/Workpacks) and routine maintenance orders using SAP within prep phase timescales & milestones
- Identify all exotic material requirement and valve replacements and raise using the site procurement tracker
- Produce and input to task Risk Assessments
- Production of accurate and timely work estimates as required using the agreed site norms.
- Reviews plans and co-ordinates work activities to ensure optimum efficiencies.
- Raise Technical Queries
- Identify all test wavier requirements.
- Identify and order all hydrotesting equipment including of flange tester requirements and optimising hire periods.
- Ensures all correct materials and equipment are available for the work scope or project.
- Attend and input into Major job reviews.
- Review all scaffold requirements to ensure suitability/access for each work pack.
- Update risk register and track progress reference solutions.
- Track all fabrication and design requirements and communicate on a regular basis to the management team.
- Complete all site specific training requirement and achieve Permit to work acceptor status.
- Complete a daily site diary log including details of progress, delays and major issues.
- Responsible for the safe execution of works
- Ensure schedule compliance is maintained and communicate and variations or change.
- Executes work in line with relevant technical standards and procedures.
- Ensure compliance to the site Joint Validation Procedure
- Ensure all night shift handovers are completed in writing along with a field review when handing over work.
- Monitor TAR Tracker and its accuracy to site progress.
- To provide leadership and motivation to team members
- Be responsible for the productive and efficient utilisation of resources
- Setting employees to work under your responsibility in a controlled manner and in accordance with site procedures.
- Ensure that the workforce is adequately briefed with regard to work plans, procedures, and practices
- Inspection of completed works and formal sign off.
- Capture all variations and/or changes to the original scope of work under their control.
- Experience in a similar trade role, within the Petrochemical / Power industry, particularly during TAR / Shutdowns on site.
- Certificate of Apprenticeship / City & Guilds in Piping or related.
- ONC engineering (Desirable)
- Supervisor (ECITB)
- IOSH Managing Safety
- NEBOSH General Certificate (desirable)
