NES Fircroft are working alongside a fantastic engineering company based in Sheffield. They are looking for a Trainee Planner to work with them on an initial 6 month contract basis.
The role
As Trainee Planner for the Upstream business, you will be responsible for office and site-based duties associated with the planning and project management of iron/steelmaking projects.
In doing so, you will look to maintain the highest standards of planning in accordance as a leading supplier of technology, equipment and services to the worlds Iron, Steel and Aluminium industries.
In this role you will develop a detailed knowledge of the business and project management processes utilised by us in delivering successful projects to clients around he world, working alongside many different disciplines across the business.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
Project Award – working with pre-sales, you will liaise with the technical, engineering and supply chain management teams to produce appropriate design and supply programmes.
Project Execution- Working with project engineering you will develop detailed project execution programs from the pre-sales programs to meet the requirements of the project managers and clients. You will also attend project reviews and progress meetings to report progress.
Stakeholder Management – Building strong working relationships across the business to ensure a smooth and effective service delivery for the duration of the project.
Risk Management – working with the project team to identify program risks, opportunities and appropriate mitigation or reinforcement actions as appropriate.

- Strong communications skills at all levels – the ability to adapt style and approach when working with different stakeholders.
- Market awareness – current industry developments
- Numerate and accurate
- Self-motivated and proficient in time management
- IT literate with various software packages and business system tools, including MS Office and Project
Additional Information
- Must have current UK Driving License as well as the right to live and work in the UK and travel internationally without restrictions, possibly at short notice.
- Working alongside the projects team there may be the opportunity to travel to site for meetings with the customer which dependant on the project type and size, may vary in duration.
- Considering this is a sensitivity for intercultural settings and its challenges will be needed.
