Position: CNC/Manual Machinist
Location: Houston, TX 
Duration: 12 months
Hourly Rate: $22–$24 (based on experience)

Summary
CNC/Manual Machinist to support our Aero and Machine Shops in operating large CNC and manual lathes, VTLs, and milling machines. This role requires precision machining to meet OEM specifications and tight tolerances for gas turbine, steam turbine, and aero components.
You will interpret blueprints, sketches, and technical documents to determine dimensions, tolerances, and machining sequences. If you have a passion for precision and thrive in a safety-first environment, this is an excellent opportunity to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:
•    Promote and maintain a strong safety culture with a “Safe to Start” mindset.
•    Align large rotors, gas components, and parts within tight tolerances for machining, grinding, and runout corrections.
•    Program CNC lathes, VTLs, and milling machines.
•    Read and interpret OEM drawings, REIs, work instructions, and digital routers.
•    Apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) principles.
•    Calculate and set machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, depth, and angle of cut; input or edit CNC programs as needed.
•    Monitor machine operations, detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions, and make necessary adjustments.
•    Select, align, and secure fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and materials for mills, lathes, and grinders.

Preferred Experience:
•    Machining steam rotors, gas rotors, cases, gas components, aero components, and valve rack repairs.
•    Prior work in rotor and component machining for turbine repairs.

Qualifications:
•    High School Diploma or equivalent.
•    10+ years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
•    Advanced/expert skill level in: 
•    CNC and manual milling, lathes, and VTL operations.
•    Turning OD/ID, grinding, and burnishing.
•    Feed rate calculations and precision machining.
•    Ability to operate both manual and CNC machines.
•    Experience in gas turbine repair (HSPT, GE10’s, Fr3, Fr5, Fr6, and F7) is highly desirable.
•    Strong understanding of algebra, geometry, and GD&T principles.
