Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Instrument Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, calibration, loop checks & commissioning of a wide range of instrumentation and control systems used in our industrial green field project. This role is critical in ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and optimal performance of our operational processes, directly contributing to safety, efficiency, and productivity.
The Instrument Technician operates at the intersection of technology and precision, applying electrical theory and a deep understanding of process control to practical applications. They work closely with engineers, construction teams, and operations personnel, ensuring that all instrumentation systems function correctly and efficiently.
Responsibilities
1. Install, commission, and calibrate complex instrumentation systems, including sensors, transmitters, control valves, and other measurement and control devices.
2. Read, interpret, and work from electrical and mechanical diagrams, blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
3. Utilize Software Systems for efficient scheduling, tracking, and documenting commissioning activities, data logs, testing results, and equipment conditions.
4. Calibrate instruments to ensure precision and reliability, maintaining optimal performance and accurate quality control readings.
5. Work safely on and around energized equipment, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and industry standards.
6. Collaborate with engineering and operational teams to identify and resolve technical issues and improve system efficiencies.
7. Maintain all instrumentation drawings in "as-built" condition to reflect any modifications.
8. Stay current with advances in instrumentation technology, industry best practices, and regulatory standards.
Education/Experience/Skills Required
Education: An associate’s degree in Instrumentation Technology, Electronics, or a related technical field is typically preferred or required. Some roles may accept a high school diploma with extensive relevant work experience.
Experience: Proven experience in industrial instrumentation maintenance, preferably in a heavy manufacturing, energy, or process control environment.
Certifications: Professional certifications in instrumentation technology are often preferred and can enhance career progression. These can be from instrument manufacturers such E+H, VEGA, Emerson, Etc.
Tools: Candidate must possess instrumentation tools such as process meters, multimeters, hand tools, HART communicator, laptop/tablet & instrumentation software
