Location: Confidential
Reporting to: Manager, Commissioning & Readiness
Roster: Monday – Friday, 45 hours/week
Travel: As required to site to meet project needs
Contract: 12-month initial contract with potential for up to 5 years
Start Date: In 3–4 weeks
Salary: $120–$140/hr + Super
About the Role
A leading organisation is establishing a Centre of Excellence in Commissioning and Completions to support its capital projects across metals, energy, and green technology. As Commissioning Lead, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering its decarbonisation vision—transforming operations and expanding into Green Iron, critical minerals, Green Energy, and Green Technology.
This role offers a unique opportunity to shape commissioning practices across a diverse project portfolio and contribute to global leadership in green innovation.
Key Responsibilities
• Support the Manager, Commissioning & Readiness in building a centralised commissioning function
• Collaborate with the Completions & Handover Lead to develop integrated tools, processes, and systems
• Develop commissioning strategies aligned with contract execution plans
• Prepare commissioning scopes for Contracts & Procurement packages
• Lead commissioning preparation: systemisation, work packs, resource planning, budgeting
• Ensure readiness of project commissioning teams for site mobilisation and testing
• Provide functional support to site-based commissioning teams
• Participate in off-site testing activities (FAT, IFAT, OTS)
• Assist in implementing and governing the organisation’s Commissioning Framework
• Contribute to technical bid evaluations for commissioning compliance
• Develop and manage communications plans for each commissioning phase
Required Experience & Skills
• 15+ years’ experience in commissioning across mining, renewables, utilities, or infrastructure
• Electrical background with expertise in transmission lines, substations, solar, and wind systems
• Proven experience in mining commissioning and E&I systems
• Strong understanding of commissioning workflows and documentation
• Ability to lead without direct reports, managing matrixed project teams
• Collaborative mindset with the ability to grow and support a developing team
• Resilient and solutions-focused, aligned with organisational values
• Assertive when needed, yet able to step back and support team dynamics
Secondment Opportunity: Commissioning Manager – Green Power Delivery
Reporting to: Group Manager, Green Power Delivery
Roster: To be agreed
Role Overview
This secondment offers the opportunity to lead commissioning and start-up activities across a Green Power program—including solar farms, wind farms, HV transmission lines, substations, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
Responsibilities
• Develop and execute commissioning strategies aligned with internal frameworks
• Lead planning and execution of commissioning across the Green Power portfolio
• Build and manage the commissioning team to deliver on schedule and budget
• Oversee commissioning budgets and resource allocation
• Manage off-site and on-site commissioning activities
• Ensure team readiness for safe and effective plant start-up
• Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, and Readiness teams on pass/fail criteria and start-up sequences
• Ensure systems meet specifications and are accepted by Operations
• Prepare and implement Commissioning Test Procedures (CTPs) and Inspection Test Records (ITRs)
Required Experience
• 15+ years in commissioning management for major capital projects
• Experience with iron ore assets, process plants, material handling, and remote crushing facilities
• Proven track record in commissioning HV transmission lines, substations, control systems, and solar farms
• Wind and BESS experience is a plus
• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills
